Looking forward to the Phils-Natinals series next week.

Grade A offense vs grade A defense.

How about Harper?

They made a comment during the Nats ratio broadcast today... Homerun in first at bat in Phillies debut!.... McCutchen.

10-4, good buddy.

Sorry 'bout the Natinals loss today. I'm sure they'll come back strong. Scherzer has to win a game eventually, right?

I mean, Scherzer's making $37,405,562 this year, or $1.1M per appearance. Harper is only making $185K per game. Harper scored one run today in a win. Scherzer gave up two in a loss. Youch.

That lineup has the potential to score a lot of runs. I think they really need the back end of that rotation (Pivetta, Efflin, Velasquez) to step up if they want to compete for a title. I really would have liked to have seen the Phils pick up another arm.

I don't disagree. They'll need to add as they go for sure.

That's the neat interplay between the Phils and Nats. How many runs will the Phils give up and how many can the Nats actually score? They're pretty opposite in many areas.

 Not sure why you have the inferiority complex. The Phils have a WS win recently.

How many sellouts did the Phillies have in 2018? They may eclipse that total (whatever it is) by the end of the first weekend.

JFC do we need a separate thread for every Philly pro team? Ganny, why don't you start a Union thread.

Philly fans are working to become as overweening as Bizun fans on AGS.

If he doesn't get a hit today, he needs to kill them with fire.

You've definitely got a bug up your ass. I was seriously asking about Harper, I wasn't following the Phillies game yesterday. The comment by the announcer was funny as he was teasing us.

Yeah that's odd. 15 games yesterday; only 8 today. The Phillies play every other Friday this season except Sep 13 and today. Bizarre. Mondays and Thursdays are the typical travel/off days.

I think it's normal to have the day after opening day off, at least it seems that usually the case most years. IMO it's dumb. You get everyone revved up for the season and then you have a dark day with a team often in for only a two game set.

Agreed - I think baseball does the opening series in as deflating of a manner as possible. Typically a day game for Opening Day (so most people working can't watch it), then they're off for a day. I get the day game because if you do happen to go it's warmer (especially in the northern climes in late March) but it's like a slow start to get going.

Phils move to 2-0. Harper puts one 465 feet into the second deck in right. :notworthy:

It's comical how the lazy sports fans and media of the rest of the country will remark about Philadelphia fans booing, but won't say a word when pitcher Jake Arrieta gets a standing ovation after running his own at-bat in the fifth inning to 11 pitches.

Philadelphia fans are honest fans. They'll let you know when you're doing great and they'll let you know when you suck.

Philly fans threw snowballs at Santa Claus but have a bad rep because other fans are lazy?

Stop trying to rationalize the bad rep and embrace it.
