And the US scores with Rapinoe's replacement. Quality pre-game substitution there, although Rapinoe probably still hasn't recovered from the last game. As the Brits would say, she was all over the pitch in the last one.

Interesting when you watch games like this. The US, to a player, just looks so much better than the opponent (less so in this game and the France game). As much as we have gender equity issues here in the US, it pales in comparison to the rest of the world. We've been investing in women's sports, from the youth level all the way up to the adult heavily in some cases, for the past 30-40 years. The rest of the world is only just starting to do that, and even then it's just restricted to the wealthier countries. It could be decades at the earliest, if ever, before you see women's teams from poorer countries approach world-class level of play. And it's ironical, because there's so much bickering about funding of the women's national team, and that we should pay more (and I believe it should be even with the men's - again, I'm all for good optics in that regard) because they are so good, but the biggest reason they are so good relative to the rest of the world is because of the huge difference in funding support of women's sports here in the US versus the rest of the world.

If this is what soccer looked like all the time... I'd actually watch. This is incredibly entertaining.

Women's game is always more open than the men's game. Never a lot of space in the men's game, everything gets closed down so quickly. Almost like the men need a bigger field.

And England blows a penalty, not hit hard enough and saved by the USA. Still 2-1.

Second yellow to an England player means the red card and England only playing with 10 from here on out. No way the USA should lose now.

Nice game for the US. The second half had entirely way too many fouls on both sides, though.

Still gotta get by the Swedes or the Dutch, Melvin. If they do that, feel free to invite Rapinoe to ump your next softball tournament.

What’s PC about that? Rapinoe needs to score some celebrity endorsements. Where better to start than a nationally renowned softball league?

Besides, I do like Morgan and Mrs. Zach Ertz.
