Chess would be pretty boring to watch on TV. Especially if you didn’t understand it’s complexities, beautiful and ever changing fields of play, and athleticism.Chizzang wrote:I've played chess my entire life and I don't watch that on TV either...kalm wrote:

Golf and bowling require about the same amount of "athleticism"kalm wrote:Chess would be pretty boring to watch on TV. Especially if you didn’t understand it’s complexities, beautiful and ever changing fields of play, and athleticism.Chizzang wrote:

Except you don't walk 6+ miles in bowling (9.6+ km in the Palouse).Chizzang wrote:Golf and bowling require about the same amount of "athleticism"kalm wrote:

and both commonly focus around drinking and playing
Which is your first clue about a "Sport"
and I do use these " " for effect here
Or play from irregular surfaces with slope and wind. A 3 year old kid can throw a strike. They can’t hit a 240 yard 2 iron from a hanging lie into a quartering cross wind, and get it to stop 2 feet from the cup.CAA Flagship wrote:Except you don't walk 6+ miles in bowling (9.6+ km in the Palouse).Chizzang wrote:

My FIL, who had a mighty low handicap back in the day, always said that golf is both a strength and a coordination game, with an emphasis on the latter. Anybody who mocks the athleticism of golfers obviously doesn’t know his arse from a tin cup.kalm wrote:Or play from irregular surfaces with slope and wind. A 3 year old kid can throw a strike. Ask John Smoltz, Tony Romo, or Steve Curry how athletic golf is.
