Italian Soccer

Sometimes only in Italy. A fan group of Inter Milan has penned an open letter to one of their own players, attempting to convince him that the monkey chants directed at him by another club during a game, was not actually racist behavior by those fans. Instead, they claim (and again, this is a portion of his own team's fans trying to excuse the behavior of an opposing team's fans) that making monkey sounds at him was a sign of respect, since they were only trying to get in his head and shake him up since they saw him as a great player. And the reasoning of all of this is simply because everyone involved (not the player though) was Italian and apparently Italians can't be racist. Awesome read.

Is it wrong that when a player flops I yell "Bravissimo, Bravissimo! That was a flop worthy of Gli Azzuri!"?

The Italian league is so insanely racist it's crazy.

FIFA, the league admin, and teams just ignore it though because if it was addressed there would be riots and money lost.

The majority of Serie A teams should be forced to play in empty stadiums

So monkey chants are a sign of respect - does that mean that the bananas they throw are really for snack?
