The Flyers' odds seem way too high. Did they get a new roster when I wasn't paying attention (which is pretty much all the time)?

Yeah, I didn't even notice that. That is too high for them.

The Red Wings won't be good this year, but should contend in the next couple of years. Their AHL affiliate (Grand Rapids Griffins) is apparently pretty loaded.
Also, it would be cool if Toronto actually did win this year. It's been a long time.

Nope, they'll be terrible again. But they have a cool mascot.

So Kuznetzov makes his return for the Caps tonight at home after serving his 3 game suspension for testing positive to cocaine. Question, if you're an opposing team, do you play either 'Casey Jones' or 'Cocaine' in the arena for his first shift on ice?

Incredible save on a 5-3 PK last night.

Random observation on the NHL schedule:
Caps have played 13 games so far.
Rangers have played 8.
I understand a game or two difference is inevitable during a season in a sport where arenas are shared, but damn, that's kind of excessive.

Don't get me started. I brought this up a year and a half ago. The Devils had to play 4 or 5 more games than most other teams in February and March when their bodies are wearing down.

Flyers follow a rousing third-period comeback against Columbus with a steaming turd against the Islanders. Typical.

Devils are a hot mess. Are they trying to adopt the 76ers process?

Yup, Flyers can't stand any kind of sustained success.

Tanking's harder to do in sports with bigger rosters. Sixers proved it can work in the NBA, but I doubt it's a great strategy in most other sports.

Best start for the Fly-guys in almost a decade.

Solid goaltending & younger stars, i.e. Koneckny picking up for aging core.
