...for #equalpay T-shirts, in reference to the US Soccer controversy. Heck, the entire sideline INCLUDING the fans, were assessed a yellow card. But even the ref who "awarded" the yellow card bought a T-shirt.
I think this is a case for Odd Squad....

For some reason, I actually read the article and I have concluded that you're reading comprehension leaves something to be desired. Some of the crowd wore the t-shirts, but this had nothing to do with the assessment of the yellow card. The team wore the t-shirts for their pre-game warm up, but again, this had nothing to do with the assessment of the yellow card. Some of the players on the field removed their jersey shirts as part of a goal celebration and were yellow carded for excessive celebration. The t-shirts they had underneath their jersey shirts, again, had nothing to do with the yellow card.

Well, yeah, I saw that, too. If Brandi Chastain didn't get yellow-carded, then neither should they....

A few things
The second Brandi Chastain scored her goal, the game was over so who cares.
Second, the rules have been changed over the past 20 years and excessive celebration for goal scoring is now a yellow card offense and this includes taking off your jersey. Rule 12 states that players should be cautioned (given a yellow card) for unsportsman behavior and this includes that a player
must be cautioned if he removes his shirt or covers his head with his shirt (See page 126 -
https://img.fifa.com/image/upload/datdz ... qy4j3k.pdf) The girls forced the ref to give them a yellow card or he would not have been following the rules of the game.
By the way, where did you see the fans and sideline were given a yellow card. The article said 4 cards were given - presumably to 4 players who took off their jerseys.

I read the article too fast, tribe_pride. The second or third paragraph mentioned that members of the crowd were wearing the shirts and I conflated that to the yellow cards.

Why am I not surprised this is going in a daffy place like Vermont?
