He never bet against his own team but still banned. Shouldn't MLB investigate this case & ban the individual(s) responsible??

Betting ON his own team is still a problem. Using a bullpen to win today, without regard for tomorrow, in the middle of a season, is a problem.

This is a huge embarrassment for MLB. A number of teams have repeatedly reported to MLB, over the past few seasons, that the Astros were using illicit means to steal signs. Baseball investigated several times and were assured by the Astros that nothing improper was going on. So add lying/cover-up on top of the wrongful stealing of signs. Rumors are swirling that large fines; loss of draft picks; and a very long suspicion for AJ Hinch are looming. It wouldn't surprise me if Hinch gets the same suspension that a first-time PED offender gets: 50 games. MLB is going to be pissed.

Still not sure about the timing of the rules. Many outlets are talking about new rules that were enacted prior to the 2019 season. But nobody is talking about what rules were in place in 2017. Anybody know?

I agree with Stephen A. Smith: the penalties on the Astros were way too harsh. I’ll bet most teams do some technocheating. Sign-stealing has been part of baseball for generations. If I sneak a peek at the catcher and see a sign for a fastball, I’m sitting on it.
