Anyone watching the XFL?

Post by SuperHornet »

I've been watching when I can. I'm happy that Dallas won this week (I'm just about ALWAYS a Dallas fan). I'm really liking Seattle with HC Jim Zorn.

Whatever one's take on the rules (I'm not liking the kickoff or the timing rules, and the three-point conversion is still a bit quirky for me, particularly the way DC tried to use it to run up the score this week), it seems that Tampa Bay is still Tampa Bay, regardless of league, as in: Tampa Bay always sucks. The rules seem to encourage aggressive play, but HC Marc Trestman can't seem to figure out when "go time" is. In week 1, he was using a two-quarterback shuttle (the Lamar Jackson-type and the "immovable statue" classic dropback guy). With about eight minutes left and down 23-3, his mobile QB got a huge play from about midfield to inside the New York 10. Then Trestman immediately put the statue back in and proceeded to get stuffed on fullback dive three straight times. Ugh!

I'm not sure what to think about New York. I was fairly well impressed with QB Matt McGloin (Raiders) against Tampa Bay in week 1, but he stunk up the joint against DC in week 2. It'll be interesting to see what happens, because if he can't get it straightened out, he's probably done....

I'm also not thrilled with all these in-game player and coach interviews. Let them concentrate on the game....

The St. Louis Battlehawks "sold out" their home opener yesterday with 29,544 in attendance. :suspicious: Stadium seats over 65,000.

There are a lot of reasons to restrict the ticket sales (staffing, concessions, cleanup, future ticket valuation, etc.) but I'm not sure if they made the right move.
