What was it like going to Philadelphia Athletics games when you were a kid? Or do you only seem that old?

If you didn't watch the video, which explained their reasons, then don't bitch.

"So many teams were in and out of the league in the early days." was the reason you gave why pre-Super Bowl championships shouldn't count. Why would that not apply to MLB? Because the term "World Series" dates further back even though the post-season was COMPLETELY different as recently as 1993 and 1968?

Good GRIEF just post a list followed by a "methods" narrative. I'm talking about the people that did it. We don't need to watch a video.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

Well, they are a youtube channel, so it makes sense they would post a video.JohnStOnge wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2020 6:08 pm Good GRIEF just post a list followed by a "methods" narrative. I'm talking about the people that did it. We don't need to watch a video.

I will be honest I don't know much about MLB history so I don't know how the teams came and left in the olden times. What I was commenting on about the NFL is that there were teams in the league for a single year that might impact things. Those teams don't really matter. (This is a totally made up example) If the 1940 Eagles beat the Akron Pros for the championship, but the Akron Pros were only around for a year, then I don't really consider that championship to mean anything.
So, honest question, did the Yankees win a lot of World Series over teams that only played for a year or two?

No. The cities changed (Brooklyn to LA, NY Giants to San Francisco, Milwaukee to Atlanta), but the franchises have been around for a long time. You may resume.

Same for football. From 1933 - 69 there were no teams in the NFL championship that don't exist today. So you may NOT resume and do not collect $200.AshevilleApp wrote: ↑Sat Feb 29, 2020 5:09 amNo. The cities changed (Brooklyn to LA, NY Giants to San Francisco, Milwaukee to Atlanta), but the franchises have been around for a long time. Whichever. I don't really care and honestly didn't watch the video. But reading through the thread it seems like you missed the fact that Pwns claimed there was No recency bias in the compilation. Maybe that would change the analysis? Carry on.89Hen wrote: ↑Sun Mar 01, 2020 4:21 pmSame for football. From 1933 - 69 there were no teams in the NFL championship that don't exist today. Re: Using math to rank all teams in the four major sports
Using math, the Yankees are worth $4.6 billion and the Lakers are worth $3.7 billion, according to Forbes. Advantage to the Yankees.
(Actually, the most valuable sports franchise in the US is the Dallas Cowboys, at $5 billion. But other sports franchises in the US can create networks to carry their games and related programming, which the Cowboys can't do due to the NFL agreements with the networks. YES, the Yankees network, and a number of baseball networks, are effectively no longer regional sports networks, but national OTTs due to their availability through services like HULA, Sling, YouTube YV, etc. These networks create a lot of additional value for the teams that own them separate from the value of the franchise).

So you were just playing Cleets in that post. See Chizzy, this is what happens when it's acceptable to just post anything you want and pass it off as fact. We're going to have to change your name to Dr Lexus.AshevilleApp wrote: ↑Mon Mar 02, 2020 3:34 amWhichever. I don't really care and honestly didn't watch the video. I simply answered a question posed by Vidav about the Yankees. You got bent out of shape about it. Carry on again.

BTW, the Dr Lexus was actually meant for Cleets. I just reread my post and that wasn't clear at all, sorry.

Re: Using math to rank all teams in the four major sports
They need to jig their weighting or scoring values...
You take all the stats you're gonna use then put the Yankees at number one and reverse engineer your system
The Yankees are number one by any metric
Any scoring system that finds the Yankees no. 2 isn't weighted correctly
The Yankees dominated 3 entirely different era's
at least these guys know their system is pretty close
but it is off a bit

Maybe they were using meth instead of math to rank the teams.Chizzang wrote: ↑Wed Mar 04, 2020 9:48 am They need to jig their weighting or scoring values...

I think they got the Steelers spot on - which is a tricky one for a lot of people
the Pittsburgh Steelers have compiled a regular season record of 444–282–2 (.635)
reached the playoffs 30 times
won their division 22 times
played in 16 AFC championship games
and won six of eight Super Bowls
then the Yankees
40 American League pennants (most by 100 miles)
27 World Series championships (most by 1,000 miles)
.570 winning percentage (Highest of any team)
