Re: NFL 2021 Draft
I'm cheering for him Gil. It would be great for him to end up on a good team where he can apprentice for a year and then step in - SF, Atlanta, WFT, etc.

Re: NFL 2021 Draft
Kiper has Lance going to Atlanta and Dillon Radunz going in the 2nd round. It's possible Jabril Cox (Once a Bison, Always a Bison), could go in the 2nd round too)

Re: NFL 2021 Draft
Saw that, with the #6 pick. Cox can't be a 2nd rounder....some jackass NDSU poster on eGriz (I know, I know, that doesn't narrow it down) ASSURES us he's a lock first rounder....

Re: NFL 2021 Draft
I think the 49ers are rope a doping with Jones and plan to pick Lance. They didn't need to move up that far for Jones and keeping Jimmy G is a hint that whoever they pick will serve a Mahomes type apprenticeship.
I'm hoping the Chiefs pick Radunz.

Re: NFL 2021 Draft
Cox didn't have a lot of big stats, because teams would not run plays in his direction. He was the Charles Woodson of NDSU. He would go up to a teammate, once the teams lined up and warn him it was coming to that teammate's guy, and sure enough, the player would have the ball thrown in that direction. Some team will find a gem with Cox.
Go to the 8:30 mark and watch Cox defend JMU on their last play of that game.

Looks like Cade Johnson SDSU, and Spencer Brown of UNI are on Mel Kipers Mock Draft, first 3 rounds, beside the NDSU trio.

So that makes 6 that have played a majority of their college ball in FCS. That equals last years total for FCS players drafted.

Re: NFL 2021 Draft
Been hearing more rumors that the 49ers may select Lance at #3
49ers Webzone Link
Analyst and writer Michael Detillier, who contributes to several media outlets, joined the BetQL Daily podcast on Thursday and discussed the San Francisco 49ers' upcoming quarterback decision in next week's draft. Detillier recalls the day the team moved up nine spots from No. 12 overall to get into a position to acquire one of the top young talents. He was getting ready to publish his mock draft and needed to make some changes as it was headed to print due to the trade.
While the national narrative quickly linked Mac Jones of Alabama to the 49ers, Detillier heard that general manager John Lynch had his sights set on a different prospect. Whether or not head coach Kyle Shanahan felt the same way is unknown.
"When I went to print was the day of the trade," Detillier said. "I had been told by a source that I trust immensely, who covers the 49ers, he told me, point-blank, John Lynch wants Trey Lance. So, that's what I went with because I had to redo the first-round because of it. So that's where I went with it."
Jones is currently the betting favorite to be the No. 3 overall pick. He is followed by Justin Fields of Ohio State and then Lance of North Dakota State.
Also, nearly a month has passed since the trade. Shanahan and Lynch have now seen all three prospects work out in person. The analyst and writer still believes that Lance will end up in San Francisco.
Added Detillier: "Now, this has swung to Mac Jones, and [they attended] Justin Fields' pro day, and Trey Lance's pro day. In the end, I think it's Trey Lance."

Since 1995, the Big Ten has had 3 QB's drafted in the first round. NDSU has been blessed to have possible in the last 6 years.

Re: NFL 2021 Draft
No way the Chiefs get Radunz now but their OLine is in much better shape with Brown.
I think ATL stays with Matty Ice for a few years and either trades down or gets him a weapon at #4.
Best landing spots for Lance without ATL are SF and WFT. DEN is also a possibility, Fangio would love the way that Lance takes care of the ball, but I don't see Lock as a mentor.

Re: NFL 2021 Draft
How Elerson Smith Transformed From an 190-Pound Defensive End Into The NFL's Next Freakishly Athletic Pass-Rusher
"It's a legit conference. Maybe it's dudes who weren't 240 and 6-foot-5 coming out of high school — (but) it's a lot of guys like me who just took longer to progress. That doesn't mean I'm any worse than any of these other (prospects) because they were bigger than me at 17," says Smith.
"I think it showed at the Senior Bowl. We had five dudes there and we all did pretty well. That actually helped me a lot (that week) because a few plays in, I was like, 'These guys aren't any better than the guys I faced every week.'"

Re: NFL 2021 Draft
Hero Sports Rankings of FCS players
NO. 1: Trey Lance, QB, North Dakota State
PROJECTED ROUND: 1st
DRAFTSCOUT TOP 750: No. 12
THE SCOOP: Lance only started one full season in college, yet that’s all it took to shoot up the charts. His quarterback savvy, his wheels, his arm, his leadership skills … it all has led him to be a projected first-round draft pick. Even though he could have played two more years at NDSU, he has opted to enter this spring’s draft — and he will undoubtedly be the FCS’ No. 1 pick this cycle.
NO. 2: Dillon Radunz, OT, North Dakota State
PROJECTED ROUND: 2nd
DRAFTSCOUT TOP 750: No. 52
THE SCOOP: Radunz wrapped his NDSU career making his 32nd consecutive start at left tackle. He announced he would not play spring football, and also invited to come to the 2021 Senior Bowl. For years, he’s been considered the top lineman in the FCS.
NO. 3: Robert Rochell, CB, Central Arkansas
PROJECTED ROUND: 3rd
DRAFTSCOUT TOP 750: No. 100
THE SCOOP: One of many talented skill-position studs who plays for Central Arkansas, Rochell has 10 career interceptions for the Bears. The 6-foot-2 cornerback declared for the NFL Draft this fall and also has received an invite to the Senior Bowl.
NO. 4: Spencer Brown, OT, Northern Iowa
PROJECTED ROUND: 4th
DRAFTSCOUT TOP 750: No. 135
THE SCOOP: At 6-foot-9, 320-pounds, Spencer is an intriguing talent. The right tackle originally showed up on campus weighing less than 240 pounds. His invite to the Senior Bowl came this fall.
NO. 5: Bryan Mills, CB, North Carolina Central
PROJECTED ROUND: 5th-to-6th
DRAFTSCOUT TOP 750: No. 192
THE SCOOP: Mills, who has accepted an invite to the Senior Bowl, has come a long way since his junior college days at College of the Canyons in 2018. In one season with N.C. Central, he had 5 interceptions and 13 passes defensed in 12 games.
THE NEXT FIVE
No. 6 – Christian Uphoff, FS, Illinois State (5th to 6th round)
No. 7 – Elerson Smith, DE, Northern Iowa (7th to HPFA)

Thomson ranked #22 of 24 QBs in the draft by one report. This report is COMPLETELY off base. He's the best, better than Lawrence. Ugh....
