2022-23 NBA Thread
ESPN has 3 Timberwolves in it's list of top 25 players. KAT, Gobert and Edwards. Giannis is the top ranked player.

Sixers had Embiid at #4, Harden at #11, Maxey at #44, and Harris at #56. If Tucker had made it then the whole starting 5 would've been top 100. If they stay healthy, should be a good year.

According to ESPN, the Wolves will start Towns, Gobert, Russell, McDaniel and Edwards. Gobert and Russell will usually be on the court together for screen-and-rolls, Towns and Edwards will also be paired.

Celtics and Warriors win on NBA's opening night. Some questions for each team.
1. Celtics not skipping a beat in moving past the Udoka situation.
2. Sixers only played Thybulle 23 SECONDS??!
3. Warriors get win but no fire from Draymond.
4. Lakers looked old, uninterested, and discombobulated.

Re: 2022-23 NBA Thread
Sixers will be fine. No one had them winning on opening night and Bill Russell night in Boston. Starters all looked great - Harden looked a lot better than last year, Maxey will continue to grow into an all-star, Harris has a role he can excel in, Embiid had a tough night but still dropped 25 and 15, and PJ Tucker will fit in nicely. Tons of new faces and it'll take a little while to get them all firing on same cylinders.JALMOND wrote: ↑Wed Oct 19, 2022 2:06 pm Celtics and Warriors win on NBA's opening night. Thybulle's time could be short in Philly. Sixers didn't give him an extension, and obviously Melton and House are going to battle him for playing time. His inability to really develop a jump shot is limiting the "3" part of the 3 and D player he could be. Not over yet, but he's got to prove it to stay here.

Boston and Philly will be good in the East. Nets got beat by the Pelicans tonight, Zion had a good game. Wolves win the opener against OKC.

Hopefully KAT is back to 100% soon. He lost 30 lbs and was hospitalized with a severe throat infection. Edwards weighs more than KAT.

Blazers are back and have a 3-0 record to show for it. First time since 2011 that they've started 3-0. Lillard has scored 41 points in the last two games. Tough one tonight at home against the Nuggets. They get that one, they will be 4-0 to start the year, for the first time since 1999.

Blazers get by the Nuggets. One of only two undefeated teams left in the NBA (the other is Milwaukee at 2-0). Blazers are 4-0 for the first time since 1999. Tell me you saw this coming because I sure as hell didn't.JALMOND wrote: ↑Mon Oct 24, 2022 8:15 am Blazers are back and have a 3-0 record to show for it. Blazers lose to Miami for their first loss of the season. Lillard left the game in the 3rd with what is being called a "calf sprain", and did not return to the game.

Yup, although I imagine he's thrilled to be out of that circus. And if it wasn't any more of a circus, the rumored replacement is Ime Udoka, the suspended Celtics coach. You just can't make this stuff up.

No Embiid's out for the next couple of games. They're running out of players. On the bright side, season doesn't really start until January, so we'll see then.

Last night, Damian Lillard surpassed Clyde Drexler as the most career points by a Portland Trail Blazers all-time.

This feat was accomplished while the Blazers were playing at Oklahoma City. During a break in the action, this accomplishment was acknowledged by the Thunder PA announcer and Lillard was given a standing ovation by the Thunder fans.

Re: 2022-23 NBA Thread
Sixers are quietly getting better. Embiid is a monster, Harden is playing some great point right now, and Maxey is warming back up after sitting out a month with an injury. Sixers are 4-0 on an extended west coast trip with one to play, and are tied with the Bucks for second in the East. Looks like they're gelling into a pretty good team.

LeBron James becomes the NBA's all-time scoring leader, eclipsing Kareem Abdul Jabbar's record.
