Euros 2024

Crazy stat, didn't know it was true. With England beating the Netherlands to make the '24 Euros final, it's the first time that the English men's team have ever been in an overseas (well for them, everything is across the water, so first international), major final... ever. That's just mind boggling - for a country so associated (ha, pun there) with soccer and never to be in a major final outside of their country is amazing to me. Crazy stat.

Yesterday was also the first time England and Netherlands have ever met in a knockout game in a major tournament, which is wild as hell as well.

For those two nations, with all the success they have had, to have never met in a knockout stage seemed impossible to me when I heard that.

Are the English the Dallas Cowboys of soccer?

Nah, the English have actually gotten to title games in most of our lifetimes.

I was at the Eagles parade in 2018. Pretty sure they had it for winning.

You're right. Are they more like the Bills or Vikings?

Vikings. Bills have gotten to the game far more often. That Gary Anderson miss in the late '90's was such a good comparison to English football. Vikes were the best team in the NFL and still didn't make the final game.

I agree on the Vikings but have to point out they've both been to 4.

Vikings - 1970, 1974, 1975 & 1977
Bills - 1991, 1992, 1993 & 1994

4 in the 1970's. Heck, the cowboys were good way back then. Ancient history.
