Statement from Manny Ramirez

Recently I saw a physician for a personal health issue. He gave me a medication, not a steroid, which he thought was OK to give me. Unfortunately, the medication was banned under our drug policy. Under the policy that mistake is now my responsibility. I have been advised not to say anything more for now. I do want to say one other thing; I've taken and passed about 15 drug tests over the past five seasons.

I want to apologize to Mr. McCourt, Mrs. McCourt, Mr. Torre, my teammates, the Dodger organization, and to the Dodger fans. LA is a special place to me and I know everybody is disappointed. So am I. I'm sorry about this whole situation.

Steroids are one big conspiracy started circa 2001 to keep the Yankees from winning. Once all this steroid mess is cleared up, it'll be back to business as usual.

I'm not going to defend Ramirez, but if what he says is true about taking and passing 15 tests over the past 5 seasons, you can lay this * crap to rest.

First off, Manny doesn't speak that way - obviously, a prepared statement by PR.

By limiting it to PAST 5 years, is he admitting, as JOSE claims, he failed in 2003? That is just outside the 5 year window of his statement.

Possibly, or it could have been said like that to cover the time frame since testing had been implemented in MLB.

Canseco has batted 1.000 up til now. I don't know why anyone doubts the man at this point. As far as I am concerned, Jose Canseco says it, it is as good as a positive test in my book.
