MLB Suspends Josh Beckett

Major League baseball has suspended Red Sox pitcher Josh Beckett for five games after Joba Chamberlain hit Jason Bay following a homerun by Bay in a previous AB.

Chamberlain had struck out nine of the previous 14 batters he faced prior to hitting Bay.

Red Sox manager Terry Francona was outraged by the suspension. Asked by reporters why Beckett was suspended Francona replied "Bob Watson told me he suspended Beckett because Josh was in the dugout staring out towards the field at the time of the play, Watson felt it was Becett's fault, and Beckett's fault alone"

Beckett refused to talk to the press, but teammate Dustin Pedroia said that Beckett would be making a trip to New York to see Watson and get his full worth out of the suspension.

Shortly following that comment, the CIA intercepted a phone conversation between Watson and former Vice President Dick Cheney. Watson was begging Cheney for the location of his secret bunker he used during the events of 9/11.

Pedroia has vowed that the Red Sox will get revenge on Joba Chamberlain who has a habit of throwing at Red Sox batters.

In wake of the suspension Beckett has decided to retire and pursue an NFL career as QB of the Vikings.

In other news ...

NEW YORK (AP) May 8, 2009 -- Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig has announced that Yankee pitcher Joba Chamberlain has been awarded a $500,000 bonus by Major League Baseball.

"Joba is a fine young man," Selig said. "We are proud to have him in major league baseball and this bonus is intended to show just how much baseball appreciates him."

Selig awarded Chamberlain the bonus at the request of 30 major league baseball teams, other than the Yankees or Red Sox, for his consistent campaign in throwing at the Red Sox's much-despised Kevin Youkilis.

"It is a beautiful thing when Joba makes Youkilis hit the deck," Selig said. "Let me make this clear. We hate the Red Sox, and we particularly hate Kevin Youkilis. If I could throw in the high 90's, I'd sail one at Youk too. I live vicariously through Joba Chamberlain."

Other baseball executives were pleased with Selig's action.

"Youkilis just won't shut up. We can't stand it," said Oakland GM Billy Beane. "We all love it when Joba tells Youk basicially STFU."

Youkilis could be reached for comment, but no one really wanted to talk to him.

Youk plays first now if I'm not mistaken and the Clown we have at third is one of the best defensive players in the MLB and a decent hitter... I'm not aware of Youks fielding stats at third... but I guarantee you Feliz is fielding percentage is better.

Oh and Travis, the Phils were legitimately in the playoffs last year whether or not the Mets choked or caught up... it's their fault they blew the wild card. Also, the Phillies win streak in the last 17 games of '07 was just as impressive as the Mets Choking. Shame Beltran can't back up his "team to beat" statements like the MVP J-Roll.
