Orlando Magic fan Ernest Provetti, whose son, 12-year-old Nicholas, was nearly run over by Glen Davis after his buzzer-beating, game-winning shot last night, is demanding an apology from the Celtics forward.
According to a report at Orlando Sentinel.com, Provetti sent an e-mail to the NBA League office this morning, saying that Davis crossed the line and embarrassed his son. Provetti said his son had to dive into his courtside seat to get out of the way, though that does not appear to be the case in the video.
In the e-mail, Provetti said Davis conducted himself like a "raging animal with no regard for fans' personal safety."

He said noted that Davis should never have been so close to the fans in the front row.
"The NBA makes it clear [that players are not to] cross the sideline. If I cross that line, the NBA will take away my tickets. It's a double standard."
-----------------------------------------------
First off fans shouldnt be that close to the court.... there shoould be some barrier between the fans and the court.
But since fans are allowed there, if there are going to sit there then they should just shut the fuck up and take whatever comes... Davis did nothing wrong.... the kid should have been sitting in his damn seat instead of jumping around about 3 inches from the sideline.

He wasn't 3 inches from the court
He was no closer to the court than anyone else near him
He wasn't jumping
He was standing in front of his seat, along with every other person near him who was standing
He was SHOVED
He is a KID, the MAN should step up and apologize for being an ass and shoving a kid
Did a leprechaun shit on your green-colored glasses or something? Are you really that blind?
BTW, the NBA sucks.

And right on cue, UNH is there defending the C's to the end. Davis went out of bounds, after the shot was in, and pushed the kid back. Why? Who knows. But he needs to man up and say sorry, like he will mean it anyways.

Great - another Boston thread. I guess it made too much sense to put this in the NBA playoff thread.

I hate the Boston teams (and NBA basketball in general).
But I don't see anything wrong with what the player did.
The kid WAS a couple steps out in front of his seat. Out farther than anyone else in that row.
And it's not like he went out of his way to shove the fan.
I see it as no different than if a player bumps into a fan while diving to keep a ball in-bounds.
that being said, he should be the bigger man and offer an apology, just as any person should when they accidently bump into someone else.

Agreed.

I guess he could apologize, but truthfully watching the replay there is nothing that makes it look either A: intentional or B: that it caused even the slightest harm to the kid.

except for the extension of his forearm to shove. It isn't like he ran into him, stumbled back, and looked accidental. He bumped, gave a club, swim move, bull rushed, then sacked.... wait... no just shoved, but still.

I wouldn't even call it a shove, more like a swim move/excuse me kinda thing. Again, the father is obviously still ticked off about the L and making more of it than needs to be made of it.
Class move, I don't think Davis did anything wrong, but this should put the issue to bed.

nothing wrong, but still owed an apology. Maybe next time he takes a mid range jumper he won't wind up in the seats

Ernest Provetti, who identified the boy as his son, Nicholas, said Davis had "no regard for fans' personal safety."
And evidently his son has no regard for the personal safety of the athletes.

Orlando Fan apologized to Davis...
"What I said about Glen 'Big Baby' Davis is inexcusable, is disgusting, and I feel horrible about it. I am truly sorry. I got caught up in the heat of the moment and not being a professional dealing with the media, I made a complete ass of myself."

Boston is the new Evil Empire.
There will be gloating and plenty of schadenfraude for every loss.

To be honest I do revel in the losses by Boston teams now. I used to be a semi fan of all the Boston teams but Travis convinced me that was not the way to go. I never rooted against the Celtics in a single series until recently.
