There aren't that many international votes.

US Postal Cycling Team.

They absolutely dominated racing when Lance was at the helm. So much so, it was boring to watch.

I would have to say "Lance's team" won the Tour 6 of the 9 years so far this decade, because you have to count Alberto Contadors victory in 2007 when he raced for Discovery. They were US Postal until the end of 2004, then became Discovery in 2005.

Cycling is different in that a whole team can change names, but the team is still intact - a continuation of the same team.

It has to, because they don't get any revenue from tickets or food and beverage, they collect sponsorship instead. That is why the racers remain the same, but the name changes.

Too bad they can't collect revenue from spectators, as the Tour de France is one of the most watched sporting events in the world. Of course running 21 days in length sure does help to boost those numbers.

what, make people pay before they can stand along the side of the road in the middle of town (or the middle of the country)?

Exactly, it isn't going to happen. That is why they have to have sponsors, because they don't have tickets to sell.

Wasn't advocating it, just saying cycling has tons of spectators that don't bring any revenue to the individual teams.

Man Utd is the obvious choice but it'll never win over a NFL team in America. Most people voting probably haven't heard of the Red Devils.
