United accepts world-record Madrid bid for Ronaldo

LONDON (AP) - Manchester United accepted a world record transfer offer for Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid on Thursday, clearing the World Player of the Year to negotiate personal terms with the Spanish club.

The Premier League champions received an unconditional offer of $131 million (£80 million, €93 million) for Ronaldo, and unlike in the last offseason is willing to see its 24-year-old star performer join a major European rival.

Well, him or Hoeness, maybe both. Bayern is not a selling club, and so many people assume they're some little pushover club, but Ribery will not go to England.

And what will happen to Madrid when they find in a couple years Cristiano is a preening swan who is being held back from his dream of playing for Milan?
