Thousands turn out for Hamilton hockey rally

A large crowd - more than 3,000 people according to one estimate - has turned out in downtown Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, for today's 'Make It Seven Day' rally, according to The Spectator.

There are currently six NHL franchises in Canada, and the 'Make It Seven' concept is the rally cry of Jim Balsillie, who is seeking to take ownership of the Phoenix Coyotes and move them to Hamilton.

Balsillie's $212.5 million offer for the Coyotes was rejected by an Arizona bankruptcy judge on Monday, but that hasn't deterred the Blackberry magnate from his pursuit of the team.

:?: :?: What? Why is it such a bad thing that Canada actually wants the Hockey team, while the team in AZ is pretty much broke?

That's 3,000+ empty seats per game. Take the team to Canada, they'll sell out every night. :coffee:

nobody in arizona gets to complain about "team stealing" given that all this would be is restoring things to their rightful place... the Winnipeg Jets could return to Canada.

Jon, are you a season ticket holder? have you ever even been to a game at Jobber.com arena or whatever?

Season ticket holder? Nope. Can't afford season tickets to anything. Been to games, yes.

If the Mother Canuckers want hockey, then give em hockey. I'm sure Atlanta, Nashville, Phoenix or Miami won't realize if their team leaves.

And for the record, Raleigh averages seven inches a year so the argument can't be used against the Canes. :thumb:

Plus we've embraced the team more than any other southern city and more so than Hartford ever did. :D

Hasn't the time to get season tickets already expired? Or can one get season tickets for NAU until the first game of the season?

yes... i'll make the case that Raleigh has earned the canes... while Nashville... which also gets some snow deserves a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

Big Market <> great support. The NHL has YET to figure that out.
