The Seattle-Portland heated soccer rivalry continues Wednesday when Sounders FC plays a U.S. Open Cup match in Portland against a familiar foe, the Timbers.
The mudslinging began in earnest early this month, when Sounders FC and the Portland Timbers of the lower-tier United Soccer Leagues First Division found themselves on a collision course for a third-round match in the U.S. Open Cup soccer tournament.
When Portland won its second-round match two weeks ago, the rivalry had returned — Portland versus Seattle on the pitch once again.

MLS teams getting tossed out tonight. But they usually run mostly bench players so its not a surprise.
Wilmington Hammerheads beat Chicago Fire 1-0
Harrisburg City Islanders beat New England Revolution 2-1
Charleston Battery beat Chivas USA 3-1
DC United beat Ocean City Barons 2-0
Rochester Rhinos beat Columbus Crew on PKs 5-3
Kansas City Wizards beat Minnesota Thunder 3-2
Game that I'm interested in is Austin Aztex vs Houston Dynamo. I like to see the Dynamo succeed but would love to see the Aztecs get a huge win.

Last nights game in Portland was a spirited event that showed what fans can expect in 2011 when the Timbers join the MSL. Sounders won 2-1.

Freddie Adu is heading back to Portugal today.
Feilhaber is heading back to Denmark either before or after Haiti.
Charlie Davies is signing with Sochaux in France's top league so he'll be leaving as well.

Seattle Sounders, D.C. United to meet in Open Cup Final
United will aim for back-to-back titles at RFK Stadium on September 2
After a spirited and hard fought game with some injuries United move on to their second US Open Cup final at RFK Stadium in two years. United once again let a lower league side hang around all for most of the game, almost playing down to their opposition rather than putting them to the sword early until controversial referee Abbey Okulaja made one of his trademark calls and pointed to the spot due to a ball which may have been kicked into a Rochester player's arm. United went on the win the game 2-1.
