Not mentioned in this story, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman has announced that the 2011 Winter Classic will be hosted by the Coyotes and held at Arizona State's Packard Stadium. This is in keeping with his policy of baffling hockey fans across North America, while simultaneously pissing off TwinTownBisonFan to no end.
:D :D :D :D :D :D

That wouldn't surprise me a bit. Packard stadium would probably hold every hockey fan in Arizona.

I heard that idiot Mayor Menino talk about this on a radio show this morning. How in the hell do they let him speak in public, the dude is such a buffoon. He thanked the NFL for letting them host it and then said Barfiston is glad to host the game. He's the mayor, he ought to know how to say Boston correctly at the very least. The dude should put out a greatest hits album.

Fenway's a nice place for this... wonder what green monster tix for that game would run???

can't wait for TCF Bank Stadium or Target Field to host a Wild game soon... outdoor hockey is how we do around here.

as for Phoenix... you're right MG - probably give me a stroke with that one...

Flyers-Bruins to hit the ice at Boston's Fenway Park

BOSTON -- Standing along the warning track near the first-base dugout, Boston Red Sox President and CEO Larry Lucchino pointed to the seats above the famous Green Monster and said those would probably be the best in the house for a hockey game.

Lucchino then turned his body slightly to the left and motioned over to what he called "Coca-Cola Corner," the area down Fenway Park's left-field line, and said those could be just as good.

The fans that get to sit in those prime seats on New Year's Day for the 2010 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic will be the envy of New England sports fans and hockey fans everywhere. More than likely it will be the only time they'll get to see an NHL game inside the country's oldest standing ballpark.
