BERLIN (AP)—Usain Bolt has set a world record of 19.19 seconds in the 200 meters at the world championships, adding to the gold he won in the 100.

Exactly one year after taking gold at the Beijing Games with a record of 19.30, Bolt had an even greater run Thursday. He shaved 0.11 seconds off his previous mark, as he did in setting the record in the 100 on Sunday.

Alonso Edward of Panama was second, a distant 0.62 seconds behind. Wallace Spearmon of the United States took the bronze.

Defending champion Tyson Gay was out with an injury.

American sprinting hasn't really fallen off. Tyson Gay ran the 3rd fastest time ever in the 100 last weekend. The two times faster were run by Bolt.

This guy is just an absolute phenom.

Just awesome to watch. Hope hes clean too.

I really do think he's clean. It just makes sense why he's so fast. He's 6'6" and has the ability to pick em up and put em down at the same rate that shorter guys do. So his strides are coming at the same speed, but covering 50% more ground. Amazing - yes. But to me it makes sense. I'm hope I'm right.
