Baseball Fans: Fantasy Baseball "Situation"....

OK, here's the setup: I'm in a 12-team head-to-head league, and we're down to the playoffs. I finished 1st in my 6-team division, so went into the playoffs with the #1 seed in the Western Division. On Monday my first baseman, Carlos Pena of the Rays, gets hit in the hand and breaks two fingers. Unfortunately I was away for the weekend and didn't hear about it until Tuesday morning. Our waiver wire transactions happen Tuesdays & Fridays. So, it's too late Tuesday to pick up somebody, but I look to see who's available and see that another player in the league who DIDN'T make the playoffs dropped all his extra players off his roster. That other player happens to be my brother.
One of the players he dropped was his 1B, Miguel Cabrera...
So, on Friday's wavier transactions I pick up Cabrera and drop Pena...mind you, of the 8 playoff teams in our league, ALL SEVEN of the other guys were ahead of me in the waiver order and could have picked him up before me but didn't.
Now, after I've had Cabrera Sat & Sun a couple guys go screamin' foul to the league commissioner, claiming it "smells" and that my roster looks like an all-star team....the commish tells me he "should have locked the rosters when playoffs started", and "should have done this" or "should have done that", and he wants to change the rules AFTER THE FACT. The fact remains I did NOT break any rules and my brother did NOT work it out with me ahead of time. In fact, if Pena hadn't broken fingers I would NOT have picked up Cabrera.
What say ye? Should I get off my high horse and let them take Cabrera back? Or should I stick to my guns and tell them to fuck off?
Because at this point if they make me give Cabrera back I'm contemplating telling them to fuck off for next year's league, and I've been in this league with the same bunch of guys for about 9 years.
