looks like the Flyers got real cheap when they realized the game was lost... the run they take at the goalie is equally galling

I can't really see a bite occur.
I did, however, see the refs call about five bullshit penalties on the Flyers every time they so much as brushed against Crosby or Malkin. Bunch of pussies. It's hockey.
And crash the goalie? GMAFB!!! Check the clock. Two seconds left and Richards is trying to get a shot to tie the game in regulation. Sheesh. Nothing like letting the homer Pittsburgh announcers (I assume - it's certainly not the CSN-Philly crew) lead you on.

I didn't see a bite. I heard homer Penguin announcers saying that there was a bite, but I don't see it.
Also, that was not an intentional run at the goalie, but a desperation run at the net in an effort to tie the game with a second left. It deserves a penalty, but I don't think the aim was to hit the goalie but rather to jam in a potential rebound.

I hate Shittsburgh and Philthadelphia as much as anyone, but I honestly can't see anything here.
I watched this with the sound off, and no bite, I can't even see where a Flyer got his head close enough to bite Letang. You could argue that Richards tried to take out Fleury, especially with the angle from behind the net, but I don't buy that one either. He is crashing the net, going for the puck, doesn't get it, and can't peel off in time. If there had been more time on the clock would goalie interference be called? Probably, and it would be justifiable, but I just can't believe it was intentional.

oh i don't doubt that Sid gets "Gretzky rules".. which would lead a team to frustration...
as for "the homer announcers" not really... i watched the play at full speed an thought the guy crashing the net was what people were worked up about...

Those were homer announcers if ever there were any.
The Flyers used to have the worst homer guys I'd ever heard. Any time a call didn't go the Flyers way, they'd start crying about it - for the rest of the game. It was so bad that even some Flyer fans complained about them. The Penguin guys tonight were clearly homers, but not the worst I've heard.

Touche salesman
Looks like they crashed the net intentionally to me. Not the goalie though. Stop the clock, maybe get one more shot on the restart...

i thought he was going for the net - to knock it off the standard so they could get a faceoff since the pens were playing keep-away
as for the announcers - yes they were homers, wasn't denying that - was saying their call wasn't influencing my take...

Aren't they the ones who speculated that it was a bite? If you say you saw the bite yourself, I'll take your word for it.
I didn't see one. That cut could just as easily come from a skate, helmet or stick as far as I can tell.
As for knocking the net off its standard - can't the refs put the faceoff in the neutral zone if they thinks it's intentional?

Yup, seems like the smart move to me... as long as it doesn't look intentional
... on another note, with all the Crosby and Malkin related penalties... do you think they will blow the whistle when Ovechkin puts em into the boards? Gotta protect your stars with the Brady... er, Crosby rule right? What happens when you got a superstar clowning a superstar?

Easy, Ovi gets called for boarding. While I will forever deny that the 09 playoffs happened, this exact scenario may have happened during that period of time which didn't exist. Maybe not with Malkin, but he's Russian so he's fucked, but Bettman cannot allow the precious, whining face of the league to take any kind of physical contact.

meh... it's Gretzky all over again... how long before Bettman leans on ownership in the Burgh to deal him to LA or another sunbelt city he's become obsessed with (and will attempt to cram hockey in to their maw at any price)?
