Insane - I was never a hockey player but for the life of me no matter how many times I see the replay I can't figure out what he's doing.

They had the kid on sports center yesterday, what he does is he flips the puck up on it's side and then let's it fall down flat on his stick, picks it up and shoots it. Easy as pie.
He said for every 20 times he tries he only makes it once, guess he got real lucky to make that on his first try.

the kid seems surprisingly humble from what i've seen... any kid who admits "yeah, i only make it one in every 20 tries..." i'm impressed

The kid was on Fox News yesterday morning (don't flame me, Donks) trying the shot on the sidewalk. He made 2 of 5.

They said it was a legal play, kept the stick (and puck?) below shoulder level.

I didn't think it was legal, but it's been a long time since I played, so my rememberance of the rules is a little foggy. Also ESPN said it wasn't legal.
But I can't find a rule to back that up, so it might be legal.

I'm pretty sure it is legal during regular play.
But may not be legal during shootouts.
I'm too lazy to look it up, though.
It also might depend on the league/level. There are some rules differences between junior hockey, NCAA, NHL, International, and others.
