Cubs "fans" are the new Red Sox "fans". You never knew your friend of 20+ years, who you went to a few dozen baseball games with throughout the country, is, and always has been, a Cubs fan.

Yep, I have a douchey friend like this. He moved to Colorado 3 years ago, so of course is a HUGE Broncos fan (and just in time). How convenient that he's been to Chicago before, so of COURSE he's a Cubs fan. Because, like, he's been there!

I hate people sometimes.

Sounds a lot like Caps fans. Minus the championship, of course.

:? I don't think you understand what bandwagon means. Don't you have to win something to have bandwagon fans? And where are these fans you speak of?

 I know 3. Two of them have lived in Chicago for decades and have a history of being fans of the Cubs, Bears, Bulls and even the White Sox. The other person, according to her Facebook page is " the happiest fan of them all," having lived in Chicago for almost 4 months. Earlier this year she was a huge a Carolina Panthers fan (b/c she lived in Charlotte). Now...it's da Bears.

Rooting for the home team is one thing. Bandwagon-ing(? is that a word) is another.

Wait, are you talking about bandlwagon fans? That could explain it.

Caps have won a shitload of games in recent years. Not the ones that matter the most, but shitload nonetheless.

I've never seen a fan become a fan over President's Trophies. The Caps "bandwagon" can be traced to the Great 8.

Caps attendance rank
2007 - 27
2008 - 24
2009 - 13
2010 - 11
2011 - 10

The only other player I can think of that has meant more to hockey for a particular city is Mario Lemieux. Youth hockey absolutely exploded around here in 2010ish. I have 50 girls playing for me this year.

I have seen a lot of people happy the Cubs won because of the streak but no one claiming to be a true fan. You guys know weird people.

Damn good series to watch. Can't wait until the MLB playoffs next year.

Maddon completely mis-managed his bullpen the last 3 games and a freaking rain delay saves his ass.
Tribe blew their shot when they couldn't chase Hendricks in the 4th...and again in the 9th when the heart of their order couldn't take advantage of a flailing Chapman.

Now we get to hear the media sucking Cub cock for the next forever. :ohno:

ESPN was sucking their knob all year. Even in the midst of a 40-40 run, you could still find their page dedicated to how these Cubs were going to be the greatest team ever with the greatest record ever. :ohno:
