I'd link to some pretty good articles about Cedar Rapid's boys Landon Cassill and Joey Gase but it's clear the rednecks in NASCAR want nothing to do with Cassill and Gase is too much a pleb for your time I'm assuming.

On that note, fucking Cedar Rapids will have two drivers starting the Daytona 500. There aren't many cities that can say they've had two drivers start the Dayton 500 in the same year (excluding family member set ups). Not bad for a metro of 270k

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (February 24, 2017) – Team Penske announced today that the organization has reached an agreement with 26-year-old Joey Logano to drive for the team through the 2022 season and beyond. The multi-year extension ensures that the 2015 Daytona 500 Champion and 17-time Monster Energy Series NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) winner will continue to be an integral part of the Team Penske organization.

The announcement follows the news that Team Penske partner Shell-Pennzoil will continue as the primary sponsor of the No. 22 Ford Fusion driven by Logano through the 2022 season and beyond.

“We are so proud of the driver Joey has become since joining our team in 2013 and all the success he has been a part of on the No. 22 team,” said Roger Penske. “But more importantly, we are proud of the man that Joey has become. He has evolved into an effective leader both on and off the track. I do not hold being a faggot against Cassill. My sister and most of the people I work with are faggots, and they're good people.

-For the most part a snoozefest. I thought with the old asphalt (last repave 1997, 2nd oldest of all Cup tracks next to Autoclub, will be repaved for next year), very fast tire wear, and new low, low down force package, all combining to make the cars very loose, that would see more wrecks & cautions. But don't think had a single multi car wreck.
-Harvick and his pit crew absolutely dominated, leading 293 of 325 laps, and won the 1st 2 stages. Likely would have led 308ish of 325 laps and won the race, but got a pit road speeding penalty on the $$ stop with 15 laps to go. Harvick had to restart at the tail end of the leap lap cars with 11 to go and finished 9th. Harvick was the 10th speeding penalty of the afternoon amongst 8 drivers. No excuse at all for getting a speeding penalty on pit road when they give you a 5 mile an hr cushion.
-Terrible day for Jr. !st segment gets a pit road speeding penalty and had a flat tire that caused damage. Spent the rest of the race multiple laps down, finishing 30th, 5 laps down.
-Truex had a great finish (8th) considering he had no clutch the last 1/3rd? of race..

What a salvage by Logano, coming back from three laps down to finish 6th.

Penske had a great day, taking 1st and 6th.

Harvick is rightfully sick.

Fords are the class of the field at the moment, making up four of the top five in the standings and six of the top ten.

I was texting with my friend CAA Flaggy throughout the race. Lots of Truex vs Logano sh*t talking going on. :D

And if they ever revived North Wilkesboro, it would fall right behind Bristol.

If they revived Rockingham, it would go just ahead of Dover.

Both should be revived, though they never will.

Also, Dover was better when it was asphalt, and Atlanta's old oval configuration was better than the double doglegs. Still, Atlanta's ~1.5 mi quad oval is much more fun to watch than SMI's other 1.5 cookie cutter tracks. Probably due to width, banking and old asphalt.

You're relating Indy racing to make a NASCAR point? Your argument is invalid.

I'm not GATW. I won't take this sort of fuckery laying down.

NASCAR races at Indy are usually a snooze fest; except when Goodyear brings the tires that blow after ten laps. That year was fun!

Just a random NASCAR history note on television:

In the very early 80s when NASCAR was first getting 100% live coverage, often via fledgling cable networks, they frequently relied on volunteer help. My dad, three of my uncles, and two of my cousins (I was too young :cry: ) worked at various times as spotters for cameramen. They basically stood over their shoulder and pointed them toward crashes immediately or help them find the driver that the producer wanted them to turn to as spoken on the headphones. So technically, my dad has been an unpaid employee of (trying to remember them all) Diamond P, Prime, TNN, TNT, and ESPN.

You rank Sonoma not last? I heard complaints about it from a friend the other day. I'm not sure about other tracks, but seating and pit passes are NOT tied together at Sonoma, so you can have a 50-yard-line seat with no pit pass or a nosebleed WITH a pit pass. At Sonoma, apparently, you have to park a LONG ways away from the track and suffer through TWO shuttles with no real coordination in link times. It's apparently worse than the dirt parking lots at Candlestick (which I HAVE experienced, to my dismay when Giants fans blew right by me and my family giving me the bird because I had been rooting for the Big Red Machine). My friend's evaluation would have made me want to place Sonoma at the bottom of the list. On the plus side, though, is how friendly the drivers and staff are if you have a pit pass. I've never been to a NASCAR/IRL/F1/NHRA event, but would like to eventually.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

SH, perhaps valid points for attending the race. I will likely never attend a race at Sonoma, so I was just rating only the action on the track, not the spectator experience.

Road courses lend themselves to shitty attendee experience. I attended a Long Beach Grand Prix (won by Juan Pablo Montoya before he went to NASCAR) in the late 90s. I basically sat on bleachers on a city street, with no shade, no announcer, no ability to listen to teams by scanner, no video screen to follow action elsewhere, and no lap counter in view. That was awful.

I am heading to the F1 Canadian Grand Prix in June. I paid extra for starting grid/finish line tickets that are looking directly at the pits, the winners podium, and a giant video screen. Because that's how I roll these days. The seats have backs and are cushioned to accommodate American asses as well.

You have to do your homework on any venue, especially motorsport road courses.
