March Madness. Everyone else gets to pretend to be excited about their school making the tourney. Bad time of the year for Hen fans.

NASCAR announces for 2018 taking Loudon's Chase race and moving it to Vegas. So the Chase starting in 2018 will have 6 of their 10 races at mostly newer, boring 1.5 cookie cutter tracks :ohno:

I looked back about a month and a half ago at LVMS tickets for this weekend (decided against going). At the time entire front stretch for the 400 was blocked off, not because it was sold out, but because you could only get those seats if you purchased a multi race package, and most seats at the time were showing unsold. Supposedly they had some $50 seats for the 400 down low at the end of one of the turns, but they must have been sold out. The tickets in the turns that were were in the $130s to $190s, basically the 2nd most expensive I've seem outside of Daytona. Too top it off, they are the only track I've seen (been to a doz) that don't allow you to bring coolers into the race  WTF?

It started with whatever broke on Keselowski's car, causing him to fade on those last 2 laps. With the disclosure I don't like either Kyle Busch or Logano, here's the way I saw it: On the last lap on the backstretch Busch was in 4th was coming up on Keselowki fast, with Logano in 5th to his inside and sleightly behind. Busch had 3 choices:
1. Break to keep from running into the back of Keselowski and lose a bunch of momemtum and spots.
2. Run into the back of Keselowski, probably wreck Keselowski, maybe himself, and lose a bunch of momemtum and spots
3. Turn left, try to thread the needle, but sideswipe Logano unless Logano gives him enough room.

Busch chose #3. Logano moved down a little, but not enough. Looks like there was a little contact. Logano probably didn't like that, dived bombed into turn 4 really hard with Kyle a little ahead. Logano got loose, slid right up into Busch, sending him spinning in a cloud of smoke into the entrance to pit lane. Don't think Logano did it on purpose, but he probably knew there was a chance of him getting loose and into Busch as aggressively as Logano dove into turn 4. Probably didn't care as he wasn't happy about the contact on the backstretch.

That's "hard racing". Logano would have done the exact same thing. Logano could have held his ground and probably spun Busch at that point. He didn't and that window is now closed. Driving into him in the next turn is retaliation and he knew exactly what he was doing. I despise Busch as much as Logano, so I really don't have a dog in this fight.

Atlanta Harvick dominates, wins the 1st 2 stages, but has a pit road speeding penalty on the $$$ stop, and Keselowski gets the win.

Las Vegas Truex dominates, wins the 1st 2 stages, but has his typical late race luck with either a broken track bar adjuster or a faulty track bar sensor by the 3rd stage. This sleightly hampers his car, and Keselowski passes him late in the 3rd stage. Next to last pit stop Truex gets off of pit road ahead of Keselowski but Keselowski again passes Truex after the restart. After the last pit stop Keselowski comes out in 1st and is slowly pulling away from Truex as the laps wind down. It looks like de ja vu, with another car dominating but Keselowski getting a win. But then something breaks on Keselowski's car with 3 laps left and Truex, who was about .75 seconds down, quickly catches up and makes the pass with 2 laps left.

Before Truex's track bar issue, Truex had the better short run car, and Keselowski had maybe a little better long run car. If neither had the mechanical issues it would have been interesting to see what would have happened.

Maybe. It could have been a case of "I meant to rub him not wreck him".

I've watched the replay a # of times. Was one of 3 things for Logano:
1. Drove into the corner hard, knowing he might get loose and slide into Busch (but not intentionally)
2. Drove into the corner hard, came up intentionally intending to rub fenders but not spin Busch out.
3. Drove into the corner hard, came up intentionally intending intending to spin Busch out.

I think it was #1 or #2, but can't say for sure.

Final results for the 20th Cup race at LVMS (1st year was 1998):
1. Truex (1st win at LVMS).
2. Larson (Back to back 2nds after leading at Daytona with 2 to go but finishing 12th after running out of fuel).
3. Elliott (Back to back top 5 after leading at Daytona with 3 to go but finishing 12th after running out of fuel).
4. Logano (Has started last 3 Vegas races on the front row).
5. Keselowski' (5th straight top 5. Had won 2 of previous 3 & almost made it 3 of 4).
9. Kenseth (Had 2 prior wins at LVMS).
11. Johnson (Has the most wins (3) at LVMS of any active driver. Keselowski & Kenseth only other current drivers with multiple wins).
16. Junior (Had his streak of 6 straight top 10s at LVMS broken).
30. Kurt Busch (battery issues). Not a good day for the local guy (or his brother lol)
36. Patrick (blown engine late)
38. Harvick (After being the best car through 1st 2 races, winning 3 of 4 stages, at LVMS 12 laps left Stage 1, blown right front tire, hard into the wall in turn 2, done for the day).

I don't need to defend anything. I'll defer to Dale Jarrett, Kyle Petty, et al and completely agree with them. NASCAR needs hard racers, like Cale Yarborough and Dale Earnhardt Sr. Not primadonnas like Kyle Busch who whine and bitch about everything (a common trait at JGR) and can't even land a sucker punch.
“He’s almost two generations late to his style of driving,’’ NASCAR on NBC analyst Dale Jarrett said about Logano. “It’s almost like he should have come along in the late ’70s, ’80s or ’90s. You just don’t see that many people this day and time get out and race the way he does.’’

“He doesn’t mind taking it to the edge. He’s going to do everything he can do to try to get around you. They didn’t have to implement the new rules to make him drive hard. He’s been that one that does that. When you do that, and probably because of situations, he might get raced harder than other people get raced in those situations, but he’s not backing down.’’

I guess you could read that as an endorsement of Logano by Jarrett, but I read it as a statement that he would have been more accepted at an earlier time. Like a goon in the NHL would have been better suited on the Broad Street Bullies.
