Re: 2017 NHL Playoff Thread
Holtby stood on his head last night. The first goal could have been saved, but the second was no worse than the one Flower gave up in OT. That second one actually should have never happened anyway. Pens should have gone shorthanded about 10 seconds before the goal. Malkin hip checked and flipped Backstrom on his way to clear the puck from the zone. Was 100% interference and allowed the Pens to keep the puck in the zone. Officiating has been really inconsistent.93henfan wrote:Holtby!
Re: 2017 NHL Playoff Thread
Holtby looked a lot better, ironically in part due to increased pressure from the Pens. But Crosby being out (and make no mistake - you go to the net in the playoffs, you're gonna get kabonged) - whooboy, if that's not a clear sign that this is the Caps year I don't know what is. Once Fleury regresses to his mean (like he did in OT last night) the Caps should start putting up 4-5 goals a game. I don't see Malkin, Kessel, and the WBS Baby Pen call-ups matching that output.89Hen wrote:Holtby stood on his head last night. Fleury is getting lucky, period. He gives up more rebounds where he has no clue where the puck is than any other goalie around. Hasek played a similar style where it looked like a yard sale, but it seemed like the Dominator always knew where the puck was.Rob Iola wrote:Once Fleury regresses to his mean...

That's the spirit. Nothing like Crosby getting clocked to raise the flagging spirits of a Caps fan.89Hen wrote:Fleury is getting lucky, period. Rangers play a complete game to win 4-1. Down 2-1 in the series with next game at MSG.

You're barking up the wrong tree Ivy. I've been one of the the only level heads around DC for the past couple weeks. I have yet to panic, even down 2-1 and 2-0 in the two series.Ivytalk wrote:That's the spirit. Was wondering when Baldy would pop up again.
Caps honestly have to be cursed. No other way to explain such postseason futility.

OWN GOAL!
What a satisfying series. Caps on the brink of elimination and the Penguins roster just getting beat all to shit.

At this rate, we could see an Ottawa-Nashville championship and the lowest-rated final in the history of the Stanley Cup.

It's the Minnesota Mafia. Matt Cullen, Moorhead HS (1,2), Phil Kessel University of Minnesota (2,2), and Jake Guentzel son of former Gopher and current Gophers Assistant Coach Mike (3,3).Ivytalk wrote:It's a Russian plot, I tell you!!!Baldy wrote:

Sitting in the box when Schultz hit the game winner. He was the Pens 2nd best player last night.

Orlov has more of a case with Minnesota Mafia groupie, Cindy out. She played a year of Minnesota High School hockey.Ivytalk wrote:I was thinking about Orlov, but OK.Gil Dobie wrote:

Caps have dominated play, but aren't winning. End of story.

Re: 2017 NHL Playoff Thread
Rangers have started playing their game the past 2 games and will tie up the series with blow out wins at home. Ottawa getting really chippy right now
Interestingly enough, Ottawa has only had the lead for less than 5 minutes all series but series will still be tied at 2. Rangers need to take one in Ottawa to likely face Pitt in the conference finals. They've been playing better than the Senators even out there so they should take one but need to finish games.
