I don't think this was an Obama reversal - the Federal public employee unions have held sway since long before Obama's tenure

and their ability to bargain with Congress isn't codified in and law that I am aware of

they are the same as police and teachers' unions - they are poison... this was one thing that Trump did that was promising

US economy grew 4.2% in second quarter, faster than first reported

Washington (AFP) - The roaring growth of the US economy in the second quarter was even faster than first reported, with new numbers showing a bigger boost in corporate spending, the government reported Wednesday.

The uptick in estimates of second quarter spending by companies was sure to comfort President Donald Trump and supporters of December's sweeping corporate tax cuts who argue that lowering corporations' tax burdens will spur investment and growth.

Gross Domestic Product advanced at an annual rate of 4.2 percent in the April-to-June period, a tenth of a point faster than initial estimates showed last month and -- at nearly twice the first quarter's pacet -- he fastest growth in almost four years, according to the Commerce Department.

Well, in Trip's defense, most of his friends aren't working anyway so they're not in this survey and they're probably not seeing these news updates while they're playing Fortnite in their parent's basements (and complaining about Mom and Dad not springing for a faster router).

First of all, 51% of people being satisfied with their job is a pathetic number.

Second, non-profit The Conference Board is owned and run by for-profit companies.

And third, it's funny they have a low rating on Glassdoor.

Meh - who here is running to the internet to heap praise on their company?

I would suspect far less than those running to the internet to complain and disparage. I'd take Glassdoor ratings with a grain of salt.

President Donald Trump told lawmakers on Thursday he was scrapping a planned pay raise for federal workers, saying the nation's budget couldn't support it.

It's not the tax cuts, trade wars, extra farm subsidies, or bloated defense budgets that are the problem here. Those have nothing to do with the fact that we're on a fiscally irresponsible course; obviously the real problem are those deep state bureaucrats like the damn data-entry guy trying to bring down Trump!

Jokes aside, he's not even approving an adjustment for inflation. That's taking money away.

Whoa

Maybe you cant win a trade war, but you sure as hell can win battles

Also, Trump recognizes that American cars are pieces of sh1t... so a zero for zero tariff deal wont cut it

Encouraging results in the latest ABC News/Washington Post. The ABC News/Washington Post poll is the one I watch for most. It is A+ rated by 538. 538 keeps data on poll performance. If you look at all 396 polls on 538's list, that poll is 56th in "Simple Average Error." That's at the 86th percentile in terms of best and that's good. But if you consider only polls such that 538 has at least 30 results to look at, that poll is #1.

"Simple Average Error" is, in my opinion, the best measure of a polls "accuracy." But I won't get into that unless you ask me to.

The latest ABC News Washington Post Poll on Trump approval is an outlier. But the difference between it being an outlier and Rasmussen being an outlier is that it is an A+ rated poll with a relatively small average error while the Rasmussen poll is a C+ rated poll with a relatively large average error. Among all polls Rasmussen is 199th of 396 and among polls such that at least 30 results were evaluated it's 30th of 47. It's a "below average" performing poll.

Now the A+ rated poll that is #1 among polls such that there are a meaningful number of results to evaluate, and which doesn't come out that often, has Trump at minus 22 percentage points. It's got 60 percent disapproving vs. 38 percent approving.

And BTW it doesn't come out as frequently as, say, the Rasmussen poll does because the people who do it try to make an effort to stick to high quality methodology.

Personally I think it probably overstates things a bit in this case due to things like random sampling error since it IS an outlier among all polls. But a high quality poll like this one showing Trump WAY underwater is still good news.

So Bob Woodward has come out with a book based on some inside stories within the White House, and apparently John Brennan said some bad things about Trump and Richard Mattis said Trump has a "sixth-grade" understanding of things. Which means they'll now be denying they said those things...

My only big fear with Trump is getting to a point where no one remotely qualified is willing to take the most important cabinet posts, which is why I wish these journalists hacks don't spill the beans on everything the people in the administration are doing to put training wheels on Trump.

Journalists are just doing their job.

Plus don't you Constitutional types have some protection against this? Like a checks and balance system or something. Oh yeah I forget, it's not just me that cares little for the Constitution. :coffee:
