Come on, think of all the French jokes that can be made - there's a plus there!

Re: Ryder Cup
sorry, but some traditions are meant to continue. This thing needs to be played in England and the US. They've already created the President's Cup to appease the REST of the world. Caving to mainland Europe?GannonFan wrote:Come on, think of all the French jokes that can be made - there's a plus there!

The USA is looking good now with the guy wearing the Kaepernike sponsored gear, playing great again.

Re: Ryder Cup
They already broke tradition when they first invited non-British golfers to play, and then they broke tradition years ago when they had it in Spain and then in Ireland (not part of Great Britain). You're like 25 years too late, at least, to be complaining.AZGrizFan wrote:sorry, but some traditions are meant to continue. This thing needs to be played in England and the US. But isn't Ireland one of the British Isles?GannonFan wrote:They already broke tradition when they first invited non-British golfers to play, and then they broke tradition years ago when they had it in Spain and then in Ireland (not part of Great Britain). I wouldn't say that to an Irishman if you want to keep your teeth.UNI88 wrote:But isn't Ireland one of the British Isles?GannonFan wrote:

Yes and? Still not part of Great Britain, and the Irish government actively protests any use of the term "British Isles". Still, when it was played in Ireland it wasn't played in anything considered Great Britain.UNI88 wrote:But isn't Ireland one of the British Isles?GannonFan wrote:

It's the British Open not the Great Britain Open.GannonFan wrote:Yes and? Still not part of Great Britain, and the Irish government actively protests any use of the term "British Isles". I agree on playing in Spain and France but don't have an issue with Ireland.

That was an ass whooping in the afternoon matches. However, I'm pretty sure last year went the same way.AZGrizFan wrote:Oooffff....what a kick in the nuts today. lol

Huh? What are you talking about? First of all, they like to call it "The Open" - they are snooty about that. And second of all, British means Great Britain. It's kind of obvious.UNI88 wrote: It's the British Open not the Great Britain Open.

FWIW, I think "British" includes all of UK (Northern Ireland) so GB and British are not synonymous. But you're very correct it is The Open.GannonFan wrote:Huh? What are you talking about? Re: Ryder Cup
What a pathetic showing. How fitting Michelson takes the final bullet...in what hopefully is his LAST Ryder Cup...Jesus, that was embarrassing.

Tiger has only been on one winning Ryder Cup team, and Bill Clinton was President when it happened ('99).

Well, thankfully this one was in France, so everything was moved up an hour and it was even easier not to watch this disaster. By the time it was all over the NFL was coming on so none of this really mattered.

He’s DONE, dude. Done. That’s become readily apparent this year. Tiger is going to wax him in November.89Hen wrote:That coming from a Phil fan.AZGrizFan wrote:What a pathetic showing. Re: Ryder Cup
Kudos for the setup of the course. The USGA could learn a lot on how to set up a course with narrow fairways and difficult rough. The US team lost before it got there. The Euros had the accurate drivers. We had the bombers. And we paid the price. Mickelson and Woods have never had the reputation of accurate driving.

Re: Ryder Cup
Patrick Reed not doing anything to endear himself to anyone yet again. Complaining that he wasn't paired with Speith. Speith and Thomas go 3-1 so kinda hard to say Furyk botched that pairing. Reed didn't break 80 on Saturday in the four ball on his own.
