Dune? That was going to be my guess.

Fantastic movie!
That photo is from the miniseries

The movie is much older - and features Sting as Feyd Rautha or the Harkonnen heir if I recollect

The movie is pretty bad

In college football, perception is reality.

With the departure (recent) of GS, App, ODU, Coastal, FCS is considerably weaker than it was 5, 6, 7 years ago. Will FCS recover? Maybe, but it will be a long long time before that happens.

Just looking at the situation from my general neck of the woods, look at the teams who have left over the last 30 years. Is the Southland as good as or better now or when it had Arky State, LA Tech, ULM, Texas State, N Texas, and Troy?

IS the OVC as good as or better now or when it had MTSU and Western Kentucky?

The CAA lost ODU to FBS, and added Elon as a replacement.

The SoCon lost Marshall, App, and GS. Their respective replacements were Wofford, ETSU, and Mercer.

I'm sorry, but FCS/I-AA isn't what it used to be from a perception or a competitive standpoint.

I'm sure they are, but the SoCon will never be the same again, and neither will the FCS.

Like I've been saying over and over, ECB may be down, but that's why we may end up with an all WCB final four this year.

None of those teams can compete with NDSU (i.e. the subject of the thread).

I mean, NDSU took it easy on Mt St yesterday and still won by 42.

No chance at that. They're all on one side of the bracket, with Maine. We could get a half Plains, half WCB final four though; a not unlikely scenario.

When the ECB is down, the entire subdivision is down.

The Big Sky may be maintaining somewhat. However, the MVFC in general (NDSU in particular) is the extreme outlier in this situation.

You do realize that the Fargo Dome is closer to Delaware Stadium than to UC Davis, right?

The MVFC and Big Sky, like the CAA for a few years, and the SoCon until the departures, are the current what makes the FCS as strong as ever. I would not be surprised to see SDSU, EWU or Weber win this year. ECB teams could win too, just would be a little more surprised.

The last several years the Fargodome was 80 miles from a Big Sky stadium. :D

Southern Conference hasn't been in the Championship game since 2007, so they have been down for quite a while.

If I was offered by HI, Wyoming, UTEP, UNLV, Nevada, Utah State ect, and had a NDSU offer thrown in you bet your ass I'd take the NDSU offer. This program is long mis-placed and it's ridiculous that any other FCS program should be measured against them.

They won't move because doing some would make them just another program in the long list of FBS programs. The domination would be over and rings, trophies and everything else they receive now would be non-existent for a LONG time.
They won't move because they don't have a home (i.e. conference) to move into.

The FCS may not be as strong as it was when App State and Geo South were apart of it, but my desire to watch the FCS has never been higher than it is right now. Having a team that you root for constantly win doesnt hurt either.

That is no longer an issue. All they have to do is ask for the Liberty treatment. They were allowed to jump as an independent despite the rule requiring a conference invitation.

Of course, it IS much easier to get games when one is in a conference. NDSU COULD try the Liberty route, though....

Apples to oranges. Liberty is a private school with big bucks behind it and a plethora of G5 and P5 opponents nearby. NDSU is a public school that can't spend money frivolously and would have to travel far and wide to find opponents (& fewer home games). They also has a connection with SDSU and would probably be reluctant to leave them behind. The only options for them are the Mountain West and MAC and I don't think either will be calling in the near future.

Also no stadium to support a FBS move. Unreasonable to go FBS with a 19,000 seat stadium. This run won't last forever, could be as simple as a coaching change. Short of a Big 12 invite or massive NCAA football reorg, I doubt the Bison move to FBS.

MSU was also 7-4 and had a linebacker playing QB all year. If EWU, Weber or Davis make it to Frisco, we'll find out what's what.

Last time EWU came to Fargo, it was OT. Who knows, Colgate could surprise everyone and make it to Frisco, like 2003, when they played Delaware.
