NFL Post-Season Future?

It's just a matter of time, but the NFL will likely determine that 1 less regular season game in favor of a "Round of 16" playoff weekend for each conference is a better (more interesting/profitable) way to go. So the season would be 15 games and each conference would then seed the teams 1 thru 16. That would begin 4 weeks of playoffs and then the Super Bowl.

If that were to happen, it would create a wild weekend of football unlike anything we have ever seen.

You can still have the divisions with the schedule format the same way, and the divisional winners would get the top 4 seeds in each conference.

Yes. I think having the top four teams get byes is a just reward for having the best regular season, and history has shown that a few <.500 teams and a boatload of .500 teams have made the playoffs and none have advanced to a conference championship game.

Absolutely no need to add more.

Playoff football > regular season.

More teams still relevant broadens the fan base.

Those years are fun but don't happen all the time. This year you had like 4 teams still alive.

First, I don't think that is always true about the final week. This year seemed to be more exciting than most years.

I don't have an opinion one way or the other on this, but I do see the positives from an owner's perspective which is why I think it might happen some day. TV ratings, and ticket sales, would be very high.

I do see some positives from a fan's perspective.
The final week(s) of the regular season would be a battle for home field and seeding. All teams' fans would have an interest except the bottom 4 or so teams. The top teams would be battling for matchups against the weakest teams and home field in later rounds.
