2019 Philadelphia Eagles Thread

Post by 93henfan »

Let's go ahead and kick this off with a little bit of Negadelphia media. This article has been the talk on 94WIP all week. Hopefully a year from now we can look back at this and laugh:
...But while the sentiment in the Eagles’ locker room is that Foles is “universally loved,” Wentz isn’t.

His aw-shucks, overgrown-Opie-from-Mayberry routine plays well with the local and national media. Indeed, sources describe Wentz as “incredibly hard working,” “determined,” and “highly intelligent.” But the true Wentz is more nuanced and complicated, with sources describing him as “selfish,” “uncompromising,” “egotistical,” one who plays “favorites” and doesn’t like to be “questioned,” one who needs to “practice what he preaches" and fails “to take accountability.”

Numerous sources confirmed Wentz was once verbally attacked by a highly respected teammate for not being “a team guy.”

“Carson Wentz’s biggest enemy is Carson Wentz,” one source said. “He’s had his ass kissed his whole life, and sometimes acts like he’s won 10 Super Bowls, when he hasn’t played in, let alone won, a playoff game yet...

I've always considered unnamed to be unconfirmed.

Well I hope it's nothing big, and the Eagles can at least get to the NFC Championship next year and lose to the Packers. ;)

That's a tough article to read if your Wentz...if he has any humility. But it makes a lot of sense as to why they did so poorly until Foles took over.

Which makes me wonder, if the team responds to Foles and they get the job done on the field, then why not start him? Is it a salary cap issue? Clearly Carson has a lot to learn and needs his ego checked.

I hate to say it, but Wentz has kind of worn on me a little. I follow him on a few social media sites and I'm starting to look at him the way many people look at Tebow (who I actually like). Hot wife, awesome dogs (they just got a new one), hunts, very religious.... but is starting to come off holier than though. I dunno. Some guys can pull that perfect world thing off. Not sure he can.

He can if he wins a Super Bowl himself.

That's not making a lot of sense, now is it? In a year that they were racked with injuries, they were a dropped pass from the NFC Championship game.

Maybe start a Broncos thread if you want to discuss mediocrity. Play your cards right at the draft and you might get back to 7 or 8 wins next year.

Or a Panthers thread. Seriously...they've got talent but Newton screws the pooch.

I honestly do pity Carolina fans. I've been through two progressions of what you're dealing with now in the form of Randall Cunningham and Donovan McNabb. It took years off of my life.

At this point, there are a lot of fans that are ready for someone new at QB. Cam just isn't a team player. He makes stupid calls. He tries to be the hero. He doesn't give 100% all the time. I watch a game where it was the 4Q, Carolina was up, they had the ball and it was a like a minute to go. He made some crazy ass maneuver that would have seriously hurt him instead of playing it safe.

Then a different game, they're down by 3 TDs and he half asses the entire 2nd half.

People hate Brady because he comes across as a jack-a## and because the Patriots cheated for three Super Bowl wins and pretend like they didn't. Safe to say, most people don't have that complicated of a resume.

This last season was the first time in 46 years the Broncos had back to back losing seasons. In game poor decisions by Vance Joseph caused a minimum of 3 losses. With a good head coach and a decent draft, Broncos will resume their normal place in the playoffs.

Let's examine that:

Career Win/Loss
McNabb 98-62-1 (.609)
Cunningham 82-52-1 (.607)

Playoff Win/Loss
McNabb 9-7 (.563)
Cunningham 3-6 (.333)

Career Passing - Cmp/Att/Cmp%/Yds/TD/INT
McNabb - 3170/5374/59.0%/37,276/234/117
Cunningham - 2429/4289/56.6%/29,979/207/134

Career Rushing - Rush/Yds/Avg/TD
McNabb - 616/3,459/5.6/29
Cunningham - 775/4,928/6.4/35

So, McNabb was clearly the more successful QB in terms of winning, in terms of playoff success, the better passer, the better total yard gainer, the better total TD scorer, the more accurate, and the less prone to INTs. Cunningham was the better rushing QB. Cunningham also wasn't a twat.

Agree, but Buddy Ryan wasn't much of an offensive genius. Cunningham likely had to earn his stats a bit more than McNabb. I really don't have an opinion on which one was better, btw.
