Defense doesn't win championships without at least competent level QB'ing, and last night the Rams did not have a competent QB at the helm. Brady didn't do anything special, just his best Sam Bradford imitation out there with the repeated check downs, but when you have Goff crapping the bed like he did all night that's all that was needed. Goff is years away from being ready for primetime.
Or he was a 2nd year pro playing in his first SB against the greatest defensive game planner in the history of football and will learn along with his offensive coaching staff and will continue to develop into an elite QB who can win the biggest game.

It’s not like he had open receivers or much time...like many great QB’s who’ve suffered a similar fate.

But I do like how your hatred has evolved to the point where you now can downplay both the Pats AND their opponents.
Career backup Nick Foles is still the last guy to throw a touchdown pass in the Super Bowl. And he threw that pass against the, wait, let me quote, "...the greatest defensive game planner in the history of football...". :coffee: Philly Philly

If the Ravens put together that Super Bowl performance
We'd be calling them the greatest defense since the 85 Bears

Lets recap here:
The No. 2 scoring offense got shut down
The Rams no. 1 rated offensive line got out schemed
The Rams No. 3 rated running game got thumped

:coffee:

You can say whatever you want about the Patriots offensive performance
But that defense was a MASTER CLASS
No other team in the NFL could have schemed up that defensive performance (Period)
It was a good defensive performance by the Pats, and they stopped almost everything the Rams threw at them. However, the #3 rated running game, came limping into the game. Can't go against Big Bad Bill with one of your key segments not firing on all cylinders.
Agreed - the Rams vaunted running game didn't do anything against the Saints two weeks earlier. The wheels had been coming off the Rams offense since they used everything up against the Chiefs in week 11. Both the Eagles and Bears, and then the Saints in the playoffs, showed basically what the Pats did. Take away the run game and Goff can't beat you.

The Rams should have activated Vince Ferragamo....

This was one of the most boring SB's I've ever seen. Game sucked, commercials sucked, halftime sucked (well that has been the norm). Only good part was the food, spending time with friends and watching our kids play together.

Well, for this year. It was a pretty exciting game last year, and the halftime show was a step up as well (Timberlake versus Maroon 5 is a walkover).

Last year was good. But in general, I've realized that a lot of these get togethers are less about the game/movie.

I love my kid, but she needs to play with her friends and leave me the hell alone. :coffee:

FYI, IMO that halftime show was at least on a par, if not worse, than that Janet Jackson debacle in terms of disgusting raunchiness.

I want a nice, clean halftime show featuring Amy Grant....

Note:
Facing Philip Rivers, Patrick Mahomes and then Jared Goff, the Patriots defense allowed them to complete just 50 percent of their passes for a combined (60-of-120).

That marks the best three-game stretch by any defense in the NFL at any point this season.

And they beat Mahomes and the Chiefs by the flip of the coin. Coin ends up heads and this is irrelevant. Sometimes it's better to be lucky.

True but Mahomes has the same kind of magic as Brady that gives you confidence. Difference is that Brady's sun is setting while Mahome's is rising.

Are you kidding me? Mahomes was a coin flip away from beating Brady and got better as the AFC championship game went along. “Deer in the headlights” Goff was an unmitigated disaster in the SB. I’ll take Mahomes any day of the week.

I wil wait to see Mahomes play for 3 years before making a solid judgement on him and hes slightly better than Goff right now but neither of them is what the NFL and sports media is trying to make them out to be.

If I had to start a team I would draft 41 year old Brady right now before the 2 younger guys. I would take Trubisky over either of them.

You're nucking futs. Trubisky might turn out to be a solid QB but he has some Goff like tendencies and his ceiling is lower than Mahome's floor. Mahomes > Watson > Trubisky.

Don't get sucked into the alphagriz games...

He predicted the Patriots would score 43 in the Super Bowl
against a defensive coordinator that has held the Patriots over the years to an average of 18 points a game

and:
Mahomes will be the best QB in the NFL fairly easily for the next decade

That's funny, I'm gonna bookmark that Mahomes comment.

I would be willing to bet he's not playing football in a decade.
