The Philadelphia Phillies appear to have won the Bryce Harper sweepstakes, finalizing a 13-year, $330 million deal with the free-agent outfielder, league sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan on Thursday.

Harper's contract will not include any opt-outs
13 yr/$330M! That's a lot of scratch. One would think, with a contract like this he may just return to his old self. This contract is the most consequential document signed in Philadelphia since the Declaration of Independence. :coffee:

Harper will wear #3 as a Phillie, in deference to the late Roy Halladay, whose number will likely be retired in the near future.

No. Dykstra was #4. He should have been #2, since he's a piece of shit.

Maybe Dale Murphy? I also remember #3 as a coach’s number in the distant past.

Harper says he wants to bring a World Series Title back to D.C. (not a typo)

Yeah, I heard that when I watched the presser. Tough moving from one red team to another two hours up the road.

It's easily forgiven since Washington has never won a title. There's no "bringing one back" when you've never won one.

While Harper may be marketable, he is a clubhouse cancer, and Nats never won anything with him. In a few years, this could look like a bad signing. Myself, I like Arenado much more.

Angelo Cataldi will probably have Joe Conklin on tomorrow to make fun of that presser.

Harper takes a 96 mph fastball to the ankle. The sound is cringeworthy. Fingers crossed. Kapler said it's a right foot contusion and he doesn't have major concern.

It does not look like Mike Trout will be joining Harper, if ESPN is correct. They are reporting that Trout is about to sign the biggest contract in pro sports with the Angels...$430mil...

Cant wait for him to walk off after a ground ball, or take a day off for a hair injury. Even more so, BillK and GF spinning how the Philly boo-birds are really a sign of affection and that he's loved, year 3.

You're still bitter UD got into the playoffs ahead of your Towson team. It's been decades now, get over it Andy.

Except his going to be pissed Trout bested his contract. He only got to revel in his own pride for a few weeks.

Two HRs yesterday. .500 OBP. Average is .231, which I don't think is alarming with just seven games played in the Grapefruit League. If he's .231 on May 1st, yes, the natives will be restless. I don't think he will be though.

The .231 won't be a big deal if he's OBP is more than .500 and he's got some dingers there as well. Realmuto has had a very impressive spring - there's more than Harper in the lineup. Everyone hits. Whoo-hoo.
