Forgive me for only watching four tourneys each year, but what is the deal with Bubba's yellow ball? Does he have no decency? I mean, sure, they allow kneegrows now, but yellow balls? When will it stop?

They're actually handy when somebody in your group plays with them. They don't bother me at all.

So it's simply because they're in foursomes or does he play it on Sat and Sun too?

With the number of cameras, eyes, and officials, it's obviously unnecessary. Does it give him some perceived benefit in his game? Or is he just an asshole? Or more likely, a marketing angle with his sponsor?

Why would you be the one stirring the pot? You and Z are the ones who are afraid of the kneegrow catching the old cracker. The rest of us actually like Tiger. He is, after all, the best thing that ever happened to pro golf.

Bubba has been doing it for awhile although he did switch from Volvik to Titleist this year.

I’ve been playing yellow Srixons since they came out. It takes me back to when I was a kid and yellow orange Top Flite XLs were the bomb.

So I’m that kind of asshole.

It's bizarre that Woods' short game is what is hurting him these days. So many makeable putts missed early today. Could have easily been -7. The body seems to be fine. Now it's the head. By the time he gets his mind right, he'll probably blow out a vertebra or hip flexor.

After back surgery in 1997 my swing slowed considerably so I went to a lower compression ball.

I used to use Lady Precept when I could find them. There are a couple 80 compression balks here in Asia that aren’t quite as gay

Not a terrible idea. Did you hit them further?

Not really. They do about the same distance. But with the slower swing the high compression balls are much shorter and I have less control on the spin.

They are usually easier to see in the air but also could be getting paid to play them.

Well then...it was appropriate for me to be playing Top Flites  . I just remember that a yellow Top Flight was the first ball I struck (from an elevated par 3 to what was evidently a very soft green) that I ever witnessed backing up.

I'd forgotten about Pro Staff. Didn't someone play them on tour...I assuming that was Pate from your pic?

OK, makes sense. So the player can get more feedback on ball flight? Just trying to nail down the purpose.

It really could be he likes the color too. There are a couple guys I play with that play them and I've never really asked them why.

And he makes a beautiful recovery shot from the trees and shakes it off by sinking a 28 ft birdie. Woot.
