Harper is key for the third game in row. Game doesn't go extra innings without this one. Thing had a little mustard on it. Wow! :notworthy:

Phils are looking pretty good these days - lineup is so deep you can cover when someone isn't there or in a slump. Nice to see Harper coming out of his - Hoskins is in one now. Lefties the rest of the way in the Cubs series so we'll see Kingery in CF rather than Odubel, who really needs a rest. Butchered that little league home run last night in the 8th.

That shitty bullpen and a lack of offense did them in again last night. Dominguez and Nicasio should be cut.

Tell that analytical genius Krapler that “bullpen by committee” never works.

Nicasio never should've been in there in a close situation. Blame all the guys that weren't available because they threw warm-up pitches somewhere in the days before.

Yup. Mind boggling that they haven't done so already.

Phils got the split against the Cubs with 9-7 win. That shithole bullpen almost blew a 7-0 lead.

Yeah, bullpen has to be better but getting a split isn't anything to whine about. Tough part of the schedule right now - if you can play .500 ball against the Cubs, Brewers, Cards, Dodgers and Padres, mostly on the road except for the Cards, and then take 2 out of 3 or sweep against the weaker teams then the Phils will be sitting pretty. No more games against the Brewers and Cards after this.

Braves are keeping pace. I think that's actually a good thing to keep the Phils on their toes.

A win against the Brewers. Who knew? Strong bullpen outing for a change.

Phils get 4 dingers and Arrieta goes 8 strong in a 7-2 win over the Brewers. Another road win! :thumb:

Not really it shows you how bad the Phillies are. If the Braves hed one single guy in the bullpen worth a fuck they would be 10 games up. Losing 7 run leads in the 8th and 9th is the only thing strong about the Braves.

Yeah, because the Phillies haven't had bullpen issues either.

As far as offense, the Phils are scoring 4.96 runs per game and the Braves 4.89, so taking pitching out of the equation, the Phils win.

Both teams are playing pretty well though, at 7-3 in their last 10. Braves are inching a little closer at 1.5 games back. Should be a good race all year.

But it won’t be like the old days, when we Phillies fans could hate on Bobby Cox, Chipper Jones, and the like.

Philadelphia Phillies center fielder Odubel Herrera has been charged with simple assault, Atlantic City police confirm to Action News.

Authorities were called to the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino at 600 Huron Avenue just after 8:30 p.m. Monday for the report of a domestic violence incident.

Arriving officers found the victim, described as a 20-year-old woman from Philadelphia, speaking with security officers.

Police said she had visible signs of injury to her arms and neck. They said she sustained those injuries after being assaulted by her boyfriend during a dispute.

Police identified the boyfriend as Phillies star David Odubel Herrera.

Well, that could be the final nail in the coffin for Odubel - Phils were already thinking about going with Kingery as the long term replacement for him. Might have just pushed up the timetable (and also reduced any market for a trade for Odubel).

Herrera may well be done, but I don’t see Kingery as the answer. Do you?

I like Kingery. I think he struggled last year with high expectations, but has been solid during his playing time this season. I think he has the potential to be a plus player for the Phillies. He'll be better than Odubel.

Kingery has been good this year, and he looks far better than the shell-shocked kid from last year. There are better players out there, but a Kingery for Odubel swap isn't a negative for the Phillies (not much of a positive either, but it's not going to dent the Phillies pennant chase).

That's a game the Phils last year would've lost. This year, they scrap back from an early hole, get timely hitting (Harper again in the middle of it) and they hold on for the win. Last night is an example of why this team will be playing playoff games this year.
