Meanwhile, in the NFL, if you're a receiver for the Chiefs (named Tyreek Hill), you can abuse your son, break his arm, receive no discipline, and miss no time.

At least Captain America was arrested in Montana for his overzealous hat removal enforcement.

Agreed. And that's why he's in jail.

Don't laugh until you think you're having a heart attack in Rapid City, SD.

And they think you may be too.

But you really have cancer.

I've thought this "patriotism" thing has been out of hand for a long time. A long time before the Trump phenomenon. Stuff like worshipping a piece of cloth (the flag). It's like idol worship.

I'm very pleased to have been born in the United States. Very fortunate in that regard. I am loyal to the United States. But the ritual crap is ridiculous. And ritual is what it is.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

How is removing your hat respectful to the special song?

Do people fight for our country so that we are not allowed to have free speech?

Thank you, but I didn't ask that.

I asked for Jon's definition of Patriotism.

What is your definition of Patriotism Jon?
This definition is a good start:
“The difference between patriotism and nationalism is that the patriot is proud of his country for what it does , and the nationalist is proud of his country no matter what it does ; the first attitude creates a feeling of responsibility while the second a feeling of blind arrogance"

Patriotism is loving your country but also recognizing that the rights in the Constitution doesn't mean everyone else has to think exactly like you do. Nationalism is a blind devotion to the symbols without understanding the meaning, and not tolerating those who look at the symbols differently

An attorney for a man accused of slamming a 13-year-old to the ground and fracturing his skull after he didn't remove his hat during the national anthem at a recent fair is invoking President Trump's rhetoric to defend him: "His commander in chief is telling people that if they kneel, they should be fired, or if they burn a flag, they should be punished. He certainly didn't understand it was a crime."

How did you intend for that to read? Neither side is very tolerant of the other side's views, but the left has made it an artform.
