Imagine where mankind and human advancement would be without cooperation. Of course cooperation is just code for democracy both of which are also dirty words.
I love this conversation.
I know that makes your knee jerk high in the air but you’re apologizing for the system that progressively limits individual liberties ....a little bit at first... to give the apologists a rhetorical tool like the one you’re using-

If Obama would were Prez you'd be wetting yourself and whimpering about backing down from the godless commies and failing to support democracy's effort to bloom.

The moment someone uses the phrase "literal Nazi" is the moment you realize that person has abdicated all rational thought and is now simply lashing out. Or it's when you realize that person has no real sound understanding of history, which is unfortunately rampant in today's world.SDHornet wrote:So apparently the HK protesters are Nazi's now.

Sounds more like Trumpism to me.

Lam withdraws extradition bill. Thank you President Trump!!!!!!!

Hong Kong (CNN)Hong Kong's embattled leader Carrie Lam has finally fully withdrawn a controversial bill that allowed extradition to mainland China and sparked three months of dramatic protests in the financial hub.
The decision to cave in to one of protesters' five core demands marked a dramatic U-turn for Lam, who for months has refused to withdraw the bill.
"We must find ways to address the discontent in society and look for solutions," Lam said in a a video statement Wednesday evening. "After more than two months of social unrest, it is obvious to many that this discontentment extends far beyond the bill."

Re: Hong Kong demonstrations
It's of little matter in the long run. Even though China says the Sino-British Declaration is no longer valid, 2047 is getting closer and closer every year and come 2047 China can do anything they want with Hong Kong (and really, they can do that now as well, no one's going to punish them - China just doesn't feel like it's necessary yet). Hong Kong, now and in the long run, will be whatever China wants it to be.
