I think almost every team has practiced against other teams at some point during camp. I know the Pats and the Lions practiced against each other prior to their preseason game. Other than clock management, controlled scrimmages can be just as effective in developing a team. One thing for sure, you can guarantee that you get your players into situations that you want, that might not happen in a game.

Clowney to Seattle
For Barkevious Mingo
Jacob Martin
2020 third-round pick

The same Mingo that couldn't make the Patriots 53 man roster in 2017
Signed with the Colts and then couldn't make the Colts 2018 roster
and was absolutely on the roster bubble in Seattle

and Martin who has 3 sacks on his career

The Detroit News is already running articles about who the Lions might pick in the 2020 draft.

That's about right for a one season rental.

Agreed, if Texas doesn't pay half of his salary before the trade...

Rosen has to be asking himself who in the cosmic order he pissed off. Year 1 with the Cardinals and year 2 with the Dolphins. 2 years, 2 teams but probably the worst team in the NFL both years.

Imagine if Frank Reich and the Colts had Rosen right now...

Watching Mitch Trubisky not know how to read coverages is part painful part hilarious...
He literally has no idea who's going to be open

As far as I can tell he called out one "Kill" (an audible)
he identified zero blitzes
and misread deep coverage all night

That kid needed 100 snaps in preseason
He looked like he'd never played at this level

Eh, plenty of ugly first games of the season in college ball as well this past week. The Notre Dame/Louisville game on Monday wasn't a picture of perfection either - three fumbles on three consecutive snaps, including one fumble that came close to being a Mark Sanchez butt-fumble.

Pro football has the fantasy football part. College football has better traditions. Both have gambling. I think they're both equal.

You either have it or you don't. 100 snaps in preseason against vanilla defenses wouldn't have fixed what was wrong with Mitch last night. He may just not be a very good QB when all is said and done.

This ^ could be true...

100 snaps in preseason might not have helped him because "he may just kinda suck"

It's like the 10,000 hours thing from that book awhile back. People took it out of context and just said - do something for 10,000 hours and you become an expert/awesome at it. They missed the part where you need some appreciable level of talent prior to the 10,000 hours. I don't doubt that Trubisky could very well be in the top 20 or 30 of QB's alive at this moment in time. Problem is, that doesn't mean that he's NFL-good.
