An story arc on Madam Secretary featured the President being temporarily removed from power while he was insane due to a medical issue. Could this actually happen? The danger involved is that if you're wrong, that COULD be classified as treason....

Yes there would be executive orders and the priorities of federal agencies would change under President Biden/Warren/Harris/Sanders but will the changes be significant and will they be long lasting? Probably not. We get all bent out of shape thinking the end is nigh when we probably don't need to.
What checks and balances are there for a move to healthcare for all or free college or universal income for all? If the left is in power, there is no constitutional verse that can prevent it. Trump can only get away with things that laws allow or don't prevent.
Isn't that the same thing we heard for eight years with Obama? Didn't happen then and won't happen if a Democrat wins the next election. The checks and balances come from the electorate.

He looks pretty stable. I don't think he's going to tip over any time soon. His last opponent on the other hand did tip over so is it safe to say that she is/was unstable?

He could croak at any time. I'm old enough to know many healthy people younger than that who just tipped over one day out of the blue. I hoping he'll be on TV when he does, that would be the coolest avater ever :thumb:

The Constitution of the (formerly) Great State of North Carolina provides that:

"The General Assembly shall provide that the benefits of The University of North Carolina and other public institutions of higher education, as far as practicable, be extended to the people of the State free of expense"

The Generous Assembly has lost their freakin' minds around here ...

What is it with Southerners using the phrase if "practicable". Isn't that what Lee told Ewell to do at the end of the first day of Gettysburg regarding Cemetery Hill? Does this mean they won't make it free after all? :coffee:

The solution is simple: Just don't vote for the guy next time. At this point I think we have a good chance of getting by with having a mentally ill person as President for four years (even though we are starting to see some disconcerting things happening with respect to Iran). But let's not extend the risk period.

We have people who draft remediation plans and they LOVE to put in "if applicable" or "as needed". It drives me crazy.

If there's a viable Republican challenger I'll vote for them

Or independent.

Or Democrat.

I think and hope you’re right. He’s shown the strength of the system.

But he’s still batshit crazy and so are his supporters. TDS is real but it’s similar on the other side and the mostly unfounded fears of socialism taking over America.
While I do not think we will get full blown socialism in America, what we will get is a shitty hybrid system that is almost as bad. :twocents:

Early on during his Presidential run I said he acts like a middle school kid. However, I am now thinking it's more something like a second grader. That thing with the hurricane maps and trying to insist that he didn't get it wrong to the point of crudely marking that map with a sharpie was really childish.

Arizona's Constitution was written in 1912, and basically says the same thing. Of course the State GOP feels free to ignore it.

You mean like paying farmers not to grow crops, paying them if they can't sell their crops, subsidizing their roads, and pretty much everything else in the most heavily subsidized state, per capita?

What do you know, a small poor state outwitted the larger states... :coffee:

One would of thought with a larger population they would have had a higher pool of smart people to pull from.
