Re: ALDS
The Astros, should they advance, just screwed themselves a bit. Now they lost Verlander for game 1 of the ALCS. And if Cole pitches tomorrow, they will lose him for games 1 & 2. They will still have Verlander and Cole for games 6 and 7 if it goes that far though. They just lost the opportunity for 3 appearances of Cole and Verlander though like the 2001 Diamonddouches had with Johnson and Schilling.

Meanwhile, Flaggy invited the Yankees over to his house for pasta and a big pot of red gravy.

Re: ALDS
At this point, the Rays pose a greater danger to the Yankees from a pitching standpoint. Way more arms than the Astros. Two weeks ago the Yankees only scored 1 run in 2 games (21 innings) against the Rays.SunCoastBlueHen wrote:Yep. Agreed. Yankees' best case scenario now is Astros win Game 5 v. Rays.CAA Flagship wrote:At this point, the Rays pose a greater danger to the Yankees from a pitching standpoint. Re: ALDS
I tried to explain that the Rays were probably the 4th best team in MLB last year
Were they not forced to play The Yankees and Boston 38 times...
in 2018 they won 90 games
but played .650 against everybody else (except the Yankees and red sox)
They were a 102 win team in any other division

The Rays biggest problem has always been NY and Boston in the same divisionIvytalk wrote:And they probably have the best bullpen left standing.Chizzang wrote:I tried to explain that the Rays were probably the 4th best team in MLB last year

Re: ALDS
I'll bet the Yankees had more salary money on the IL (Salary/162 x games missed) this year than the Rays total team salary. $21 million for Jacoby Ellsbury alone. Stanton missed 144 games with a $26 million salary (that's another $23 million).Chizzang wrote:The Rays biggest problem has always been NY and Boston in the same divisionIvytalk wrote: And they probably have the best bullpen left standing.

W: So the Rays won?
H: Yup.
W: So you got you wanted?
H: Yup. That was a big.
W: When is Game 5?
H: Tomorrow night.
W: You think the Rays can win three in a row?
H: I hope not.
W: Wait. I thought you were rooting for the Rays to win?
H: I was. Last night. But tomorrow I'll be rooting for the Astros.
W: Huh?

Kind of like the Yankees in reverse. They were .570 against everyone outside of the ALE.Chizzang wrote:I tried to explain that the Rays were probably the 4th best team in MLB last year

I think he meant that Hibch screwed the kangaroo. And that bind they're in hurts a lot. You'd yell, "Ow!" too.Ivytalk wrote:*Hinchcss75 wrote:AJ Hibch screwed the pouch last night by starting Verlander, these guys need regular routines. It was not a must win game, ow they are in a bind.
