Politicians acting in their own self interests..sounds like a President asking a foreign power to investigate his political opponent in exchange for military aid.

Or every politician ever.
Right. Exactly what The Dems asked of Ukraine in 2016. Only NOW it's impeachable?

No, it's not JUST the republicans right now. Hell, this entire impeachment charade is the dems acting in their own political self interests. And that's literally ALL it is. Because they know with that weak-ass field of candidates they can't beat him at the polls.
The fact that you think Trump can't be beat by any of the Democratic candidates means you are not dealing with reality. It is true that it's a weak field. But Trump is also a very weak candidate.

In that regard Real Clear Politics has results of an Atlanta Journal Constitution poll conducted October 30 through November 8 up right now that have point estimates with Trump down in GEORGIA to all five of the Democrats pollsters asked about. Among respondents he was down by 8 to Biden, 4 to Sanders, 3 to Warren, 3 to Buttiigieg, and 1 to Harris. Yes, I know the response will be "the polls were wrong in 2016" even though they were about as accurate as one can expect polls to be and the person ahead in State polls within a week prior to the election actually won that State in the overwhelming majority of instances. But a Republican running behind like that in Georgia in ANY reasonably respectable poll under current circumstances is a weak Republican.

Yes, the Democrats have political self interest in mind. But they also have the truth about what Trump did with respect to Ukraine on their side. And, even if they did not have political self interest, the truth would be that they SHOULD be doing an impeachment inquiry. They are doing the right thing regardless of whether all their motivations are pure.

The Republicans are doing the WRONG thing. And they are really going off the rails to do it.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

The dems asked the Ukraine to mettle in our election? I haven't heard that one. Where's the proof?

So you agree, Trump asking Ukraine to investigate his political opponent in exchange for military aid is wrong.

Btw - that's s sincere question up there. I've honestly not heard that.

Meanwhile - Jim Jordan is probably one of the biggest dip shits in the GOP. Right ahead of Meadows. Even if a bribe isn’t accepted, doesn’t mean the act was legal, just, appropriate, etc....

Maybe Trump, Bolton and Mulvaney should testify and clear the air.

That’s been corroborated by events, Trump, Mulvaney and other people. Yeah.

And we have heard no defense from the GOP. That’s curious. They can’t seem to defend abuse of power.

Again - if Trump would let people testify in his defense he could clear up this whole mess. I wonder why he doesn’t want to produce witnesses who were on the call.

Ultimately this exercise is about one thing...
Everybody agreeing that a sitting president can coerce an ally to investigate an opponent for aid
once we've established it's okay we can move forward

Nobody can deny it happened
what we're establishing now is - it is okay to do forever more moving forward

Looks like they are going to have to flip Rudy or this thing is going to backfire.

House Dems already screwed up with Bolton and now he isn’t testifying. I’m assuming that out of all the players so far, Bolton and Giuliani are the only ones that would have direct knowledge of a directive from Trump

I’m not 100% sure about Mulvaney but yeah maybe.

I’m certain that if Trump directed anyone to tell the Ukrainians that aid was contingent on them reopening the Burisma investigation it would have definitely been Rudy. Bolton would have resisted it but Trump would have to have told him too.

But Bolton may know other things about Trump as well. He has alluded to the same. Plus, this is not a guy that you piss off or piss on. He would have zero reason to protect Trump. I think the Dems really screwed the pooch on no having him testify.

I’m not planning anything. I’m a spectator, just like you. I’m looking at the evidence as it’s presented. I’m trying to give Trump the benefit of the doubt but to me, and many other Republicans, it looks like Trump wasn’t acting in the best interest of the country.

But I’m sure the GOP has witnesses with first hand knowledge coming up to testify.

Agree 100%. The Dems didn’t want to wait for months until a court decides if they could testify. I agree, they should’ve crawled and only gone when the heavy hitters were legally compelled(forced) to give testimony.
