Ukrainian gas executive cooperating in US probe of Giuliani

Federal prosecutors are planning to interview an executive with Ukraine’s state-owned gas company as part of an ongoing probe into the business dealings of Rudy Giuliani and two of his Soviet-born business associates.

A lawyer for Andrew Favorov confirmed Tuesday that he is scheduled to meet voluntarily with the U.S. Justice Department. Favorov is the director of the integrated gas division at Naftogaz, the state-owned gas provider in Ukraine.

Federal prosecutors in New York are investigating the business dealings of Giuliani, President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer, including whether he failed to register as a foreign agent, according to people familiar with the probe. The people were not authorized to discuss the investigation publicly and spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Giuliani’s close associates, Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman, were arrested last month at an airport outside Washington while trying to board a flight to Europe with one-way tickets. They were later indicted by federal prosecutors on charges of conspiracy, making false statements and falsification of records.

Following an inquiry from The Associated Press, Favorov lawyer Lanny Breuer confirmed his client is set to meet with prosecutors.

“The Department of Justice has requested an interview,” Breuer said. “He has agreed and will voluntarily sit down with the government attorneys. At this time, it would not be appropriate to comment further.”

The Tweeterverse of veterans is almost unanimously calling LTC Vindman a douchebag for rank checking one of the Congresscritters during testimony. I'm not sure what bearing that may have (if any) on the substantiveness of what he has to say, but I'll have to agree that he seems to be "that" guy you had to work with in the military..

Rank checking a civilian is one of the douchiest things you can do as a commissioned officer.

He believed he was being offered a job with the Ukrainians as well on three occasions.

Also, it was tried to remove him previously due to leaking, but blocked by an Obama holdover.

Dude really thinks he is important. More important than Trump when it comes to Ukraine.

Normally I would agree, but in this setting Nunes knew what he was doing. He was diminishing Vindmans role.

I'm sure they will, but I'm curious how the GOP is going to dismiss Sondland's damning testimony. The man is in direct contact with the President and the people involved.

Trump, Pence, Pompeo, among others deserve prison time. This is the entire executive branch committing and covering up corruption at the highest level...and a weak Republican party looking the other way.

You mad bro? Someone has the guts to report something irregular and all of the sudden you believe Jim Jordan and Mark Meadows and whatever bullshit they spew? Vindman was on the phone.
Let’s see...a Lt Col who was on the phone call says something was irregular...

I’ll raise your Lt Col with a Lt General, who was also on the phone call, who says nothing irregular happened...and ask, why hasn’t the committee leadership called him to testify...

WOW! 2 people with different opinions. Stop the presses. What makes the LtGen more credible? What makes the LtCol less credible? The extra(lack of) brass? Maybe the LG has more to lose. Do you know the LtGen personally?

I don't think you're looking at this objectively. In fact, none of us are. Some of us are more open to the fact that Trump is a shady, corrupt man but willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. If there were evidence to exonerate him, i'd love to see it b/c I would hate to think that our Country's reputation is being damaged by this and that our leader is abusing his office.

It seems to me that we have a lot of people, especially on this board that take some witnesses at face value and others are clearly lying or bias. Everything we've been told to date, under oath, leaves me no reason to believe that these men and women are lying just to push Trump out of office. You've got more people than not confirming the whistle-blower complaint. After Sondeland's testimony this morning, it sounds like all of this is true. That aid was held in order to gain a political favor. Maybe you have some inside information that should be shared with Congress.

If the call was proper, why won't the White House allow those like Bolton or Mulvaney testify and clear the air? I'd love to hear what they have to say. They're close advisers, they're in the room where it happens. Surely thier testimony will carry substantial weight.

I don't have anymore insight than you, AZ, dback, the other 320+ million Americans. BUt from what has presented, and the corroboration it seems to be that they are telling the truth.

And the GOP is still spewing conspiracy theories that it was Ukraine and not Russia interference in 2016. The FBI, CIA, DOJ, DNI, NSA, and two Congressional committees concluded that it was Russia. Many of these are led by Trump appointees.

And instead of trying to defend the president or the conduct, they choose to denigrate the character of the witnesses. :ohno:

Like I said, i would love to see a witness come and prove Trump was acting properly. But it seems more and more that aid was NOT tied to any diplomatic or security reason rather it was tied to a political favor that benefited Trump.

Btw, PBS is left leaning. Can we really trust them? :suspicious: Maybe it's more fake news from the deep state.

That's Fake News.

I guess the Republicans either didn't know about him or deemed he wasn't credible. Or it would've been a waste of time. I'm ColHogan has the answer, he appears to know the truth more than us.

I'm not sure it's worth prison time. That's a huge stretch. Leave emotions out of this.

Stick to the facts as they are being presented, wait for all of them to come out and then make your decision. Don't prejudge just b/c you're a Democrat (or Republican) and assume Trump is the devil (of savior).

This has nothing to do with what he’s “reporting”. It’s that pompous, arrogant “my shit doesn’t stink” attitude sitting there with that smug-ass look on his face, thinking that somehow his rank as LTCol (a fucking O-5, FFS) has some special weight or bearing. O-5’s aren’t special. They get coffee for O-7’s and O-8’s in the pentagon every fucking day. To interrupt and correct someone on how to address him? Fuck that dude. Talk about losing an audience right out of the fucking gate.

Honestly, never heard another word that douche said after that.

Oh so it's demeanor, not his testimony? Sounds like a petty reason to not take his testimony at face value. That's what i'm seeing, attacking his personality instead of his testimony.

Btw, Schiff has the same "“my shit doesn’t stink” attitude sitting there with that smug-ass look on his face".

Btw, i'm loving the difference in reporting.

Fox News - "Sondland 'never heard' from Trump on quid pro quo, but 'everyone' involved in Ukraine talks"
WaPo: Sondland says there was ‘quid pro quo’ involving Trump and Ukraine
Reutiers: Sondland says he followed Trump's 'orders' on Ukraine
Drudge:
AMBASSADOR DROPS BOMBS
FOLLOWED PRESIDENT'S ORDERS
GIULIANI PUSHED QUID PRO QUO
'PENCE KNEW'

If you read into them, ignore some of the biased language, they're actually saying the same thing. It was a quid pro quo at Trumps direction through Guilani and the State Dept. Guiliani is fucked.

I get where AZ is coming from. From my 10 yrs as a defense contractor I saw those officers all the time. Even when they were out of uniform, they'd expect strangers to know they were officers and to address them as such.

I knew a few, retired LDO Majors from the Marine Corps that were that way and it pissed them off that they weren't called Major..by civilians...when they were dressed in jeans and a button down.

But when you're known to be an officer, and you're dressed in your uniform, then you should be addressed as such. Just my opinion. It's respecting the person and the uniform. :twocents:

Sondland already said under oath in Oct there was no quid pro quo. So he would either have to have been lying then, or lying now. How else would you explain contradictory testimony?

He also said he didn’t know of the Biden- Burisma connection.

Like Meadows said:
- Another witness who never heard anything from the President.
- Reached a nefarious conclusion on his own.
- Is contradicted by witnesses who actually DID get directives from the President.
