Haven't you stated something along the lines that the government should never be able to take away someone's liberty?

Should they be able to vote while they're in prison?

And I hate to "but Hillary" this and I do think that Trump is corrupt and should be held accountable but there is no doubt in my mind that Hillary is just as corrupt as Trump (but in a more covert and insidious way) and that if she had been elected the Democratic party would be looking the other way (as they already have in the past).

Trump should be investigated and given a fair hearing but we need to clean up corruption in both parties.

The Democrats trying to take the high road on this is comically ironic.

He also said he didn’t know of the Biden- Burisma connection.

Like Meadows said:
- Another witness who never heard anything from the President.
- Reached a nefarious conclusion on his own.
- Is contradicted by witnesses who actually DID get directives from the President.
People forget things. Especially those that don't take notes. You ever hear Trump respond to a question? He says, " I don't recall" quite often.

HOwever, Meadows is wrong. There's been a lot of corroboration.

Meadows is also an piece of crap.

Sondland already had to "update" his testimony from Oct after other people's testimony "refreshed" his memory.

That doesn't really close the case. 1 person didn't hear Trump say something. What about Bolton? What about Giuliani, the guy doing all this shadow diplomacy for his client (that's Trump)? What about Mulvaney?

Can Meadows be trusted? He lied and spread that Birther nonsense about Obama. He has been caught lying about his education (stated he had a Bachelors when really he has an Associates degree). He was fined for not completely dealing with sexual harassment in his office. He's a liar. Can we really trust his character?

Plus he was born in France. :coffee:

^Wow, someone committing a crime saying that they don't want the crime committed!?

Well, case closed then...no need for any of this.

Trump's personal lawyer can go back and conduct US diplomacy in the Ukraine again. It's all good, I like my government sending private citizens to do "official" affairs with no records or accountability.

That's interesting. Doesn't mean those conversations didn't occur with other people. It still proves nothing. Perhaps the Republicans should call Guiliani, Mulvaney, Bolton and Pompeo to the stand. It'd be god to have those with intimate knowledge testify. Those 4, along with Trump, would know the truth. Especially Rudy. With their sworn, honesty testimony, they could end the inquiry.

Why do you think Burisma continues to come up? What does Burisma have to do with the national interests and/or security of the United States? :coffee:

I’ll raise your Lt Col with a Lt General, who was also on the phone call, who says nothing irregular happened...and ask, why hasn’t the committee leadership called him to testify...

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/v ... -testimony
WOW! 2 people with different opinions. Stop the presses. What makes the LtGen more credible? What makes the LtCol less credible? The extra(lack of) brass? Maybe the LG has more to lose. Do you know the LtGen personally?

I don't think you're looking at this objectively. In fact, none of us are. Some of us are more open to the fact that Trump is a shady, corrupt man but willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. If there were evidence to exonerate him, i'd love to see it b/c I would hate to think that our Country's reputation is being damaged by this and that our leader is abusing his office.

It seems to me that we have a lot of people, especially on this board that take some witnesses at face value and others are clearly lying or bias. Everything we've been told to date, under oath, leaves me no reason to believe that these men and women are lying just to push Trump out of office. You've got more people than not confirming the whistle-blower complaint. After Sondeland's testimony this morning, it sounds like all of this is true. That aid was held in order to gain a political favor. Maybe you have some inside information that should be shared with Congress.

If the call was proper, why won't the White House allow those like Bolton or Mulvaney testify and clear the air? I'd love to hear what they have to say. They're close advisers, they're in the room where it happens. Surely thier testimony will carry substantial weight.

I don't have anymore insight than you, AZ, dback, the other 320+ million Americans. BUt from what has presented, and the corroboration it seems to be that they are telling the truth.

And the GOP is still spewing conspiracy theories that it was Ukraine and not Russia interference in 2016. The FBI, CIA, DOJ, DNI, NSA, and two Congressional committees concluded that it was Russia. Many of these are led by Trump appointees.

And instead of trying to defend the president or the conduct, they choose to denigrate the character of the witnesses. :ohno:

Like I said, i would love to see a witness come and prove Trump was acting properly. But it seems more and more that aid was NOT tied to any diplomatic or security reason rather it was tied to a political favor that benefited Trump.

Btw, PBS is left leaning. Can we really trust them? :suspicious: Maybe it's more fake news from the deep state.

Btw, watching part of Vindman’s statement, he sounds like he could be the whistleblower. I’m not saying he is but his testimony along with Trump’s public admissions lends credence to the point that who the whistleblower is doesn’t really matter.
That thought occurred to me too.. He has the fire of the true believer in him. :coffee:

I get the feeling they don't need to sacrifice anyone. If public polls are accurate (I posted the NPR one yesterday but there was another one by ABC today) no one's really changing their mind on any of this. There are enough votes to impeach but not enough to remove from office, and there's a Presidential election in less than a year. There's nothing yet that constitutes an actual crime that you'd take them to court on, even though it's clearly shady as heck, and people can act on the impeachment at the voting booths come next November as to whether they want to remove him or not. There hasn't been anything coming out of these hearings that we didn't already know, so unless there's something else, I see status quo until the elections.

It's almost like we might need some testimony from some folks the White House doesn't want to testify. Interesting.

Mulvaney stood in front of a lectern and admitted aid was tied to investigations in his famous "GET OVER IT!!" speech.

That was a lie. Or maybe he has truthful tourettes.
Mick Mulvaney called then-candidate Donald Trump “a terrible human being” in a video from November 2016 that resurfaced Friday, hours after the president named him acting White House chief of staff.

Can anyone explain a few things to me? I don't get into the politics like you guys do but when I watch this Sondland guy say things like, "Trump never told me aid was conditioned, that was my own personal guess" under oath in front of congress"

"I have said about 19 times, Trump did not ask me about the Bidens."

Coupled with the fact that during more than seven hours of questioning on Oct. 17, both Republicans and Democrats repeatedly asked Sondland whether aid was part of the White House quid pro quo. Numerous times, he said he could not recall.

How is this damning to Trump does it not exonerate him? The democrats were waiting for this guy to deliver and all he did was keep making it look like a waste of time for everyone involved right?

Am I missing something here?
