I've met him twice and enjoyed his company both times. Optimistic, upbeat, and likable. But we didn't discuss politics a whole lot!

Oh, and Obama was still the President.
He was quite tolerable back then. His condition only came on a couple years ago.

Yup. I enjoyed meeting with him as well, and would do it again.

Not sure where things went so caustic. Probably Trump.
I remember when he struggled to find work as an engineer out of college. Had to resort to substitute teaching. This was around 2013 and 2014. What he didn't realize was that he was a victim of Obama's economic slow-play with the recovery.

Probably, but I think there must have been another event in his life for this drastic a change. Maybe his friends started making money and became conservatives like normal people. 8-)

I give Trip a lot of grief but I appreciate his idealism. It might be misguided but I think misguided idealism is better than apathy.

I was way more conservative when I met you all. The last few years have shown me that despite all social and economic advances people fought for, we can't take anything for granted.

You call it TDS, I call it empathy; no matter the name though, I take pride in having it.

In the end, I won't be remembered for the car I drove our how big my home was. Our memories live on through the communities we build, so I'd rather die leaving it a better place than the one I was born into.

I am confident that despite the repeated proclamations of Chicken Littles (Conks on abortion, same-sex marriage and Donks on Trump) we are not on the cusp of armageddon.

I am confident that life is better for everyone (including women, minorities, gays, etc.) then it was 40+ years ago.

I have empathy but I also believe in personal responsibility. You say that Conks don't care and there is truth to that for many Conks but the flipside is that many Donks want to foster dependency.

Our memories don't live on just through the communities we build but through the people whose lives we touch. I feel good about the positive impact I've had on other peoples' lives and won't let scolds on the Left or Right make me feel bad about it.

Amen fellow centrist. The hysteria that both sides can produce is often just that, hysteria. Doesn't mean the world is coming to an end, despite each side's' most fervent wishes for it to be so just so they could blame the other side when it happens. Both sides are right, both sides are wrong (except for the rabid partisans on both sides - they tend to be wrong more often - seething with blind hatred does that to a person) and it will continue to be so for some time to come. Life is certainly better for the vast majority of people, at least in this nation, now than 40 years ago and 40 years from now life will be better as well. :thumb:

Which economic records are you talking about? Yes, I know there are some but I want to see what you cite so I can explain why there is no indication that such is result of Trump being President.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth

I’m not confident, you centrist Pollyannas. In 40 years, given rampant political cowardice as to entitlement reform and relentless increases in spending, this country will be a fiscal basket case. The piper has to be paid.
