Not true at all.Trump has not been doing the right things. Lying practically any time he opens his mouth is not the right thing. Indiscriminately cutting regulation the way he's been doing is not the right thing. Disrupting our relationships with our allies is not the right thing. Telling the American People that the tax cut would be at least revenue neutral and might even improve revenues when all credible analyses said that was not the case was not the right thing. Trying to get a desperate nation to declare that it was opening an investigation of a political opponent is not the right thing. On and on.

The reason the media has been on Trump is that he generally has NOT been doing the right thing. He's been causing tremendous damage to the United States for the long term. He has also corrupted one of the two major political parties.

Now back to the stock market thing. The S&P since that was used. Below is an image showing long term perspective (the end point is January, 2020). Let's say any reasonable person was looking at that and trying to identify points at which the basic situation changed without knowing anything about who was President when. In relatively recent times it'd be reasonable to say something changed around 1980. Looks like something changed between 1990 and 2000 where the rate of general increase changed. Then there was a dive shortly before 2000 followed by another increasing trend from the early 2000s through about 2009. Then another dive.

Then, to any person who was not trying to claim Trump caused a big change, things generally have gone up after that. No big changes. If we REALLY had to try to find something we might point to the point at which things kind of stuttered a bit we could look at just before the point I marked with the black triangular shape. Then after the black triangular shape things pretty much have been trending up at a consistent rate.

The black triangular shape is at February, 2016. It has nothing to do with Trump being elected or taking office.

As is the case with the Dow, the idea that there has been some kind of dramatic change in what the S&P was doing in association with Trump getting elected or taking office is just ridiculous.

but YES they need to scrap the MAX
you can't fix massive physics incompatibilities with "software patches"

They need a "from the ground-up" design of a new aircraft
which they have known for years was the case

One thing to keep in mind, is that the airlines put pressure on Airbus and Boeing to limit required training.

One of the big reasons to just do updates instead of building a new plane.

With that said, Boeing has told us it costs about $10 billion to develop a new aircraft.
