I read it was for Suffrage. I guess the media outlets need to collude on the narrative.
SOTU
Re: SOTU
I didn't watch. I'm sure he did something. But that isn't what I said. Trump acts like a child. He engages in name calling. C'mon. You wouldn't put up with that crap from your children or at work. But the guy leading the country...sure. No problem. Act like a petulant child.BDKJMU wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2020 12:22 pmAnd what did Trump do during the SOTU that was childish behavior?Ibanez wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2020 12:04 pm I think Pelosi ripping the paper was great. She matched Trumps level of childish behavior and the GOP is pearl clutching over it.
Ripping up a paper at the SOTU - bad
Offending Vets, handicapped people and asking Russia and China to interfere in an election - good

Trump has said as much, Ivy. He can kill a man and nobody would do a thing.
Try to be objective counselor, I took you for someone that could see through the bullshit. Pelosi is being a petulant cuss just like Trump. Now the GOP suddenly has a problem with it. Give me a break. Where were they when Joe Wilson was calling out Obama during the SOTU? They were nowhere.
And Fritz was a good man. We are much more than our political affiliations.

Yes, most sane folks would agree Trump acts like a child a lot.Ibanez wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2020 1:04 pmI didn't watch. I'm sure he did something. But that isn't what I said. Trump acts like a child. Last night wasn't one of those times. Possibly the best speech he's ever given (realizing that bar may be fairly low, and this coming from someone who can hardly STAND to hear him speak)….like most SOTU's, long on bragging, short on facts....one thing he didn't do much of was lay out what his next four years might look like. Was a lot of looking backwards, taking credit for how great things are economically, and patting himself on the back at the expense of the Dems, who sat there basically looking like they hate it when people are working, wages are up, and soldiers are coming home. They also came across as hating babies, black people and specifically black children.

You mean that isn’t what you meant (same time comparison). And no, he really didn’t do anything childish. Stuck to the teleprompter. Neither did the conks as a whole that I saw. All the childish behavior last night (sitting on good news, even the the feel good stories like the little girl, paper ripping, shout outs, women in white gang like hand gestures, walkouts) were on the part of the donks. Own goal behavior.Ibanez wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2020 1:04 pmI didn't watch. I'm sure he did something. But that isn't what I said. Trump acts like a child. He engages in name calling. C'mon. We should back off the Woodrow Wilson approach and have the POTUS just give a written annual report, like public companies do. Elections are basically large-scale proxy contests, anyway. Let people see it online or in print, and let ‘em vote the CEO in or out.

Re: SOTU
Correct. I didn't watch last night so all I'm going off are comments from a CS text exchange and a couple of news articles I read. I did read a CNN article separating fact from fiction and was happy to see that just about everything was mostly true. Only a couple things were flat out false or true to a certain extent (or if you cherry pick the data. ). That sort of stuff is to be expected.BDKJMU wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2020 1:26 pmYou mean that isn’t what you meant (same time comparison). And no, he really didn’t do anything childish. Re: SOTU
Welp, nothing in Article II, Section 3, requires that the information be given in the form of a speech. And it doesn’t have to be annual. I like the public company model: short quarterly reports, an annual report, and the equivalent of an “8-K” for special events. Your idea of “question time” is intriguing, but nobody can do that like the Brits.Ibanez wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2020 1:55 pmIvytalk wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2020 1:29 pm We should back off the Woodrow Wilson approach and have the POTUS just give a written annual report, like public companies do. RE: Questions. Wouldn't it be great if once a month or once a quarter President Whomever had to go before the HoR and answer questions for a couple of hours? To have the "peoples" representatives, and I use that term loosely, regularly question the president in an open forum would be great for democracy and our Republic. It might help hold people more accountable and get answers to questions like, "Why'd you withhold aid?" It

Yup. There is a laundry list of athletes, actors, artists, etc that have gotten one of these. Hell, Bill Cosby has one.Pwns wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2020 11:29 am Giving the PMoF to Rush was 'leet-level trolling.
I love how some are acting like an award that goes out to Hollywood celebrity activists and famous athletes is cheapened by giving it to Rush.
This plus Pelosi tearing up Trump's speech and Iowa fiasco have made a Senate trial of a sitting president third-page news. What a train wreck.

She sent out a nice message to Rush Limbaugh today.
She's not a "follower". It's why she's despised by the AZ DNC and probably won't get reelected.

Looks like you're buying it too so it must be working. A peek at her voting record is all you really need to know about what she will actually do in the Senate.
