We've only had one "Obama's is really the son of Osama bin Laden" thread this week and today Falkin actally made an FCS related thread that has some thought behind it.

Re: Officer says he'll 'never apologize'...
Don't disagree. But he was placed in cuffs after showing the ID I think....shure, Gates is a dumba$$ for delaying on producing the ID. And I feel secure stating that Gates was belligerent while showing the ID. But once produced, easy to determine that there was not a break-in, just leave....surely, being a cop in the Boston area, this is not the first time he's dealt with an obnoxious, self-important a$$hole....Ursus A. Horribilis wrote:All of what you say is true but under these circumstances he was answering a reported burglarly call. He can't just walk away and say "oh, okay then I'll see you later." He did nothing wrong here. Can you imagine if he just walks away from this? He had every right to ask for ID that showed the man's proof of residence which the ID he provided did not do. The cop shouldn't apologize for answering a burglarly call and following the proper procedure just because the black guy took offense to him doing his job.Appaholic wrote:
Agree to a point. There's no doubt Gates was trying to "big time" the officer. He would have done better to show the ID, inform the policeman there was no problem, then shut the door. I've been Gate's without the belligerence before dealing with a power-hungry obnoxious cop, so I know how mad he could have felt being in his own home. If you are in your own house, you don't have to talk with the cops, just shut the door....

Well stated TMan....travelinman67 wrote:But, BTT...
I've listened to detailed reports of the Gates incidents from both sides, and TECHNICALLY the officer was legally justified for his actions. From a discretionary view, however, he could have de-escalated the situation, but Gates over-the-top belligerence failed the attitude test negating any chance the situation could be resolved without someone losing face: And that "win" never goes to the person in handcuffs. Just one of those things...and but for Gates position as a heralded limousine liberal, nobody would have ever heard about this incident.
BTW, this had nothing to do with Gates being black...it had everything to do wth him being an an anti-authoritarian *******. Plenty of people of all colors in "that category"...just that most anti-authoritarian ******* KNOW they're that way, have had their ass kicked at least a few times, and understand it comes with the territory.

Perhaps we should put it to a poll..
Re: Officer says he'll 'never apologize'...
IMHO, there are less than a handful of people who truly know what happened. It appears to me that the cop was doing his job and Gates was being an a$$, but that's what I've read and heard (from the same media who lovingly embraced Obama). Again, that's my opinion based on what I've heard, which is about the same amount that our comrade in the White House knew before he spouted off about how stupidly the Cambridge police department handled the situation. He singlehandedly eroded the credibility of a police force (maybe hundreds?) with a single sentence when he should have uttered "no comment" until he knew the specifics. Now he's still standing by his statement and saying it was blown out of proportion? The White House will never admit any fault on this, but again IMHO BHO was WAAAAYY out of line calling out a police matter when he (self admittedly) didn't have all the facts. What an a$$hat.

Gates could have been left on the ground with a full clip of ammo unloaded in his carcass and the incident would not have raised any more stink that it has already. If you a black dude, prying open a door or window, and a cop confronts you, don't do what this pompous ass did unless you are into cop assisted suicide.
He's lucky this cop was who he was, and should be thankful that all he got was handcuffs.

Neither Bush nor Clinton were complete failures as president. Nor was either a complete success. Each had successes and failures, good points and bad points.Cap'n Cat wrote:Typical Conk ****.

It's mostly the limousine liberals, not the conks, who think they're always right and the normal rules of society don't apply to them, but plenty of those in power, whether donk or conk, fit the description.
That was the beauty of our wonderful Constitution, to provide checks and balances on the power of any one faction and thus reduce the risks of absolute power. Alas, the donks are determined to destroy it.
