You can control a game with 2 tight ends that can both catch

The kind of catches Alshon gives you can be replaced easily
the kind of catches Ertz and Goedert give you - not so much

Heck teams try to cover Goedert with a linebacker 50% of the time
He forces a Defense to make hard decisions

Just my 2 cents

The Eagles are done with Jeffrey after the "anonymous" player comments to ESPN last season. He's old news. It's just a matter of trying to mitigate the financial obligations to him.
The Texans will give you picks and take him off your hands

But like 93 said, the Eagles are already done with Jeffrey - the only thing to still take care of is his salary and how it impact the cap. Would love for someone to take him off the Eagles hands. Problem is he's hurt as well as won't even play to start the year, and quite a ways into the season as well.

I'm not excited about either the WR from Arizona St or Colorado and we know Howie's track record with picking Big 12 WR's anyway. If it's likely that a top 4 WR isn't there at #21 I'd rather trade the pick for Ngakoue - might even be able to snag a draft pick later in the draft as part of it too.
When did Arizona St join and Colorado return to the Big 12?

The Colorado receiver is a playmaker from what I remember.

I had no idea Alshon was so severely injured...

There was a reason we referred to him as "the oldest 29 year old in the world" all last season. Dude is broke as fuck, and he's a clubhouse cancer to boot. See ya. Thanks for the Lombardi trophy.

That's what matters. He was fragile with the Bears and he learned too much from Brandon Marshall.

Sorry, clearly meant Pac 12, just typed quickly.

The Colorado guy is actually having surgery for something already, I'd be worried about him. The Eagles haven't had a lot of luck with Pac 12 guys others than Ertz - Agholor was a disaster and Arcega-Whiteside, while not a lost cause yet, didn't have an encouraging first season. I'd stick with some SEC guys or Clemson guys if possible just to play it safe.

Sounds like we were wrong about Alshon and his status with the Eagles - Howie spoke to the media today and was very optimistic about Alshon and his place on the team. Even got real and said Alshon knows what people are saying about him (i.e. that he's a lockerroom snitch) and that's he's committed to proving people wrong.

I can understand it, they can't really dump his salary without it being a huge cap hit, so the best case scenario is that he comes back, stays healthy, and performs well. Given his injury history and his age you wonder if he can, but it's an option.

I did see a good mock draft for the Eagles - had them trading up to get one of the top three WR's (Jeudy, Lamb, or Ruggs) and then even taking another WR in the 2nd round (saw them pick Claypool, which I think might be a good pickup if Ertz is not long for Philly as Claypool is like a WR/TE hybrid). I could live with those picks and have those two guys play with Desean, Alshon, and Greg Ward as the 5 WR's for next year.

They would be idiots not to go "WR-WR-whatever else" in the draft, since they decided not to go after anyone in FA. You can't sacrifice another year of Wentz by giving him no targets on the outside.

Howie is just trying to gin up something, anything on trade buzz for Alshon for next offseason. He's worth nothing at the moment because, well, he sucked last year and he's injured.

The real questions:
1) who'll be the starting QB in Washington DC come week 8
2) Will the Giants tank again or are they actually trying to win NOW
3) Can the Bills win the AFC East now (for the love of god)
4) How many games will the Dolphins win
5) Has the NFL cracked the code on the Ravens offense
6) Can the Steelers bounce back into contention
7) Has the Raiders plan come together or are the Chiefs in a cakewalk again
8) Who plays QB for the Chargers
9) Will the 49rs do what every losing Superbowl team does and go 8-8
10) Was Green Bay an illusion
11) Will the Saints play to their skill level and win a playoff game
12) Can Chicago go 8-8 in that brutal division

I just saw a tweet saying the Chiefs have $177 in cap space. If true it is kind of impressive they got that close to the limit.

Plus with what they have right now they could totally sign Clowney.

Clowney will sign for $177? He might be worth that.

It looks like the Chiefs are expecting limited offseason/preseason activities and prioritizing experience with the team to compensate.

I was joking because it's kinda crazy he is still unsigned. He must want a ridiculous contract or something.

word is he wants $20+ million a season...
there are a few problems with that request

1) He only plays about 10 games a year
2) 20 Million gets you an A+ linebacker and a quality Safety or quality nose tackle

Green Bay had an easy schedule last year. Even with Rodgers not playing up to his previous level, they are still at team to watch. Might be a 10-6 team winning the Norse this year.

Packers resigned Mercedes Lewis and cut Jimmy Graham
Signed LB Christian Kirksey, good bye Blake Martinez
Signed WR Devin Funchess
Signed OT Rick Wagner

Former Packers
TE Jimmy Graham (Bears, two years)
LB Blake Martinez (Giants, three years)
RT Bryan Bulaga (Chargers, three years)
OLB Kyler Fackrell (Giants, one year)
LB B.J. Goodson (Browns, one year)
FB Danny Vitale (Patriots, one year)
WR Geronimo Allison (Lions, one year)

See the Iowa caucuses. People can't just "figure it out". The entire draft could be nullified if one team drops connectivity, so it has to be locked down and redundant as hell.

Sweet Moses, we've managed to have live, online fantasy football drafts for years, and the NFL can't figure this out? Make sure everyone has everyone's cell phone so if you lose connectivity with the web feed you can always pick up the phone. The Iowa caucuses were a bunch of hicks and hundreds of different caucus locations. These are 32 teams who are supposedly tech savy. Just git 'er done.
